Just as mentioned (don't remember who), I got the call today. He said they had battle stations but of course couldn't talk about it but he is graduating Friday. He's so silly with the way he worded it.
He is sicker than a dog but I guess it isn't Covid since he's in graduation.
MAV - my son was fully vaccinated and he had to still quarantine also.

Krystal-- We have not heard of a policy change with RTC so until you hear otherwise yes it's 14 days.
Love4Leo25-- The Ricky Crud was/is common. It's not Covid so they just treat for symptoms, They do test them however. My Sailor had it for nearly all of BC and he was so sick it developed into Pneumonia and took him Months to get over! He may have developed Asthma as a result of getting so sick for so long.

Congratulations to all of our new sailors!! May the families have safe travels to PIR and get lots of hugs!
For those of you that have sailors now, I would encourage you to come join our Beyond BC group. We are very laid back there and while we visit about our sailors at times, it is a place to have community with others who are now navigating Navy Life. There are many other groups on this site to also look into joining but we started this group to allow you to carry over from BC and have a place to ask questions if needed regarding the next steps forward.

Krystal, I am so sorry that your SR has to go back to quarantine. I know nothing about quarantine at BC, but my son came home for Christmas from A school and we all got covid. He was put on a ROM until the 7th, but got a call today saying that the Navy rules for quarantine just changed, and he needs to report to A school asap. (So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that the quarantine is shortened for your SR!)

More great news for women in the Navy announced today!
Cmdr. Billie J. Farrell is scheduled to take over as the commanding officer of the USS Constitution, also known as Old Ironsides, on Jan. 21. This will be the first woman commander in the warship's 224-year history.

I second the advice to keep phone ringers on loud and expect a possible call anytime (my phone shows it coming from Waukegan, IL). My son is in week 4; he was able to call both on Christmas Day and I got another call 1 week later. Welcome to all the new folks!

Krystal, please let us know when you hear more about your son. That is so disappointing that his PIR is delayed because of covid. Hoping you get good news soon.

Marienavymom4kk, if you go to the forum group on the blue ribbon on top of this page and then type in RCU in the question box there is information about that process when your recruit has a injury. Sorry that is the only help I have found. Good luck and loads of prayers being sent your way!

Good Morning Everyone!! It is almost Friday - PIR day!!! WooHoo!! Congratulations to all of our new sailors and their families.
Just a reminder - Once you have a sailor be sure to update your profile page to show that they are enlisted!! Celebrate their achievement!
How are we doing today? It is cold here so I am drinking some hot chocolate after being out and about this morning. Start writing letters to your SRs and number them. Once you have the form letter and their address then you may mail them off.
Keep in mind that your SR is limited on the amount of time that they can write home, so some of the members have utilized the questionnaires shared in Letter writing and fun stuff/questionnaire above. They give your recruits an opportunity to answer questions quickly without a lot of writing on their part.
There is a lot of information above on this page. I encourage you to read through it in small bites. Know that most of the information, while pre-COVID precautions is still valid.
BNMHs (Big Navy Mom Hugs) to all of you!!

Good Morning Everyone and welcome to our group. We are glad that you are here.
MarineNavymom4kk- Good Morning I also have a son that is on the marine side. I saw your post and I am sorry to hear about your son. I do not know any thing about that. When I'm not sure about something you can search in the search box on the top right hand corner of this page and see what comes up.
I hope you are able to find out something.
B'sNukeMoM MMN- Thanks for all this info. This is always good to know.
Those letter questionaires are fun. My son loved them when he was at bc. And they can always add to it which is great for them because the questions are quick and easy.
Keep your phone on you at all times and that ringer on loud as you just never know when a call will come thru!!
For those going to PIR today enjoy every moment of the ceremony and let us know how things go. Give your loved ones a big hug from all of us!!!

Hello everyone:) I just wanted to let you know I am so happy right now because I received letters from my daughter today and 20 minutes after reading her letters, she called me. I thank God for answering my prayers. It was such a relief because I had not her from her since she started. She is really enjoying it and she sounded so happy. I want to thank everyone for your prayers and encouraging words. Oh yeah the USPS is awesome!!!! Now I can focus on nursing school (LOL). God bless you and know that I'm always praying for you and your families.

God's Plan, I am so happy for you. I remember how hearing mines voice enveloped me in a peace hard to explain. I walked in the clouds for a week. Knowing they are happy, making friends and doing well is a extra bonus. God bless you in nursing school, I know how tough that is, had two nieces that had a tough time.

Phone calls are the best!! Hopefully today some of your SRs will be able to write a short note to you. Mine always seemed to stay busy on Sunday's and he usually started his letter with - "I only have 10 minutes to write."
My son's mail was picked up on Monday and I received his letters on Thursday. One week I did not get a letter. It turns out he had gone to medical on Sunday (the only day he was allowed to write) to get medicine for a sore throat. He wanted to make sure he did not miss his PIR date.

God'sPlan- Hey and that is awesome!! It is so great to hear their voice and to read their letters. And you are right it does make your heart feel better to know how they are doing and to be able to talk to them!!
God Bless and enjoy the rest of your Sonday!!

Hi all - Happy Sunday! I wanted to share an exciting thing that happened today. The Nixon Library was having free admission today because it's Nixon's birthday so hubby and I decided to visit. They had a guest speaker - Rear Admiral Robert Nowakowski. He was talking about the Navy and he mentioned that as one of his assignments he was the Deputy Commander of the Navy Recruiting Command from October '19 to September '21. After he spoke my husband and I were able to talk with him. I mentioned that I'm an admin on the N4M site and we discussed boot camp and training and just all sorts of things - we actually spoke for almost an hour. But the exciting part was he gave me a Challenge Coin! I almost cried lol. He did the old put it in his hand and shake my hand to pass it to me. He actually thanked me for my helping out on here - gave me his card and his cell # and told me to reach out to him anytime I have questions or need info. I still can't believe it.....it was quite an exciting day. If I would have known I was going to meet a Rear Admiral I would have dressed up lol!
