Tootie - That is wonderful news!!! I am so glad that his injury has healed up. I agree, I hope he is able to get some direction on better running techniques and how to prevent any future injuries. Just keep encouraging him.

    Hello Everyone!

I am asking for some serious prayers for my SR.  Instead of graduating in December, like he was supposed to...he had stress fractures of both thigh bones. THen he was supposed to graduated this month. Nope....stress fractures of both shin bones, so he will be graduating in August. He may make it in time or with special permission, to be in his sister's wedding.

Please, I'm asking for prayers for his full recovery and a graduation.

    Thanks,

    Patti

Oh patti - I am so sorry to hear about yet another setback for your SR.. We must always stay hopeful! I will definitely add your son to my prayers.

  • Chipmunk

Mom2Boss - Welcome aboard!!! WE are glad you have joined the BC Mom and Loved Ones group here on N4M. Please come say hello and let us know when your SR arrived at BC.

We are here to offer encouragement, answer questions, and help in any way that we are able to.

  • belovedbyHim

Oh Dear Patti!!! For sure!! He also has the option of coming home to heal and address the root causes of the stress fractures and then re-enlisting after his sis's wedding but that means starting over from square 1 instead of going back in at the same point of training that he got pulled due to the fractures so that is a tough call to make!  For sure We'll be praying for him!!

Diahn -- Have you heard if he passed the Run?  Praying for news soon!! (It may not come this week... Not sure how they are handling that call with the change in training)

Welcome Beth & Mom2Boss.  You are in the best place to get any and all Navy questions answered and if we don't know the answer we'll try and help you find someone who does or commiserate with you on the lack of info available! (Your Sailor is still the Best source of Information... They just aren't always the best at sharing it!)

  • Northwoodsmom

Patti, I will definitely add your son to my prayer list. There are others in the group going through similar injuries. I hope they reach out to you. I know they allow them to bring a good pair of running shoes now, not sure if that would make a difference or not. Also holding you up in prayer, this is so hard on a Mom as well.

  • Diahn

Patti-I’m so sorry to hear of the additional setback. I’m sure it must be so discouraging to him.

BelovedbyHim-he should have his run tomorrow according to what he told me last week. I’d love to get confirmation tomorrow, but I’ll stick to the no news is good news mantra until I know otherwise. :) I’ll be watching Friday to try and spot him in the honor guard!

Patti - so sorry to hear about this new setback but kudos to him for persevering.  While this is not an ideal situation I'm sure he is figuring out he is much stronger than he ever thought.  Prayers for him and hugs to you!

THank you everyone! He will persevere instead of going home. He actually moved up in rank for time served.  Again, thank you for your continued prayers.

Congratuations to all of our new Sailors! BZ!

Just got the call that my SR passed his PFA! He’s going to graduate 5 May, as scheduled! Can’t wait to see him!

  • Northwoodsmom

Diahn, congratulations to both of you, have fun and give your Sailor a big hug from us.

  • Beth

Hi, Beth here. My son left for Boot Camp on Monday, April 17. I haven’t heard from him. I did get a call from a number I didn’t recognize….it was a foreign country and I did not answer it. Has anyone not received a I’m here call?

Beth --  They seem to have moved into the Opt In Sandboxx text messaging.  You may want to see if that is what your SR did.  They usually call from their Cell phones but if his battery was dead it's possible he could have borrowed one.  They come in the middle of the night. (Like 12-3am!)

  • Trey

So happy for you and your sailor Diahn.. BZs to all new sailors..

Once our son left for BC we answered every call lol even if we knew it was spam.. another navy dad told us that Waukegan is area code 847 so we watched hard for that since it was the phone banks.. Foreign country would not have been it though

  • Chipmunk

    Good Evening Everyone!!

It is great to have everyone checking in.

Patti - Kuddos to your SR as he continues to persevere!! We are all rooting for him!

Diahn - WooHoo!!! That is a relief to know he passed his PFA. Since that change it seems like you all have one more week or so of waiting to fully celebrate.

Beth - Like others have said, just answer all phone calls. And some people will put a special message on their voicemail so that their SR knows to leave a message because they aren't able to answer the phone.

It has been too many moons since my son's first call home from the payphones, but he was using a calling card I had bought. It seems to me that the very first call did show up as something other than IL, but then after that, it did show up. I am thinking it was Vietnam or such, and that is what the text showed up on the phone. I would not have been able to keep up with all the area codes on my flip phone.

If they do need information from you or have to tell you a change of status, hopefully they will either keep calling or know to leave a message for you.

  • Tootie

    Diahn - Congratulations!!!

  • Diahn

Tootie, Trey and belovedbyHim - thank you!

Chipmunk - a relief indeed!! Now I get to sit back and watch the next two livestreams of PIR to try and catch sight of him in the honor guard!

Beth - all the calls I have received have been from 847 area codes. I typically do not answer any calls from a number I don’t know, but since he’s been in boot camp, I’ve answered every call I’ve gotten. :)

348 New Sailors today - watch it live:

    LIVE PIR 4.21.2023

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

    Friends & family of RTC,
Due to a recent reorganization, as of Saturday, April 15, we are relocating divisions from Ship 11, the USS Kearsarge into Ship 12, the USS Triton.
The following divisions will be affected:
    921
    123
    124
    141
    142
    151
    152
    928
Below is a list of where the divisions are being moved to and where you can reach your recruit moving forward.
    Their new address will be:
    SR Last Name, First Name
    Ship 12, Div. ###
    Recruit Training Command
    3515 Sailor Drive
    Great Lakes IL 60088-3515
  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Information below is from the RTC Facebook site.

  • monwojo

'reorganization'  that sounds odd.... but since my guy is not in any of those divisions, it's not relevant, just curious

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

monwojo - sometimes it's just a matter of filling up divisions.  They could have had SR's that are being separated and they want to keep things filled up.  Who knows for sure though?!?

  • patti

Thanks, Treysmom. He figured that if he went home, he would have to start from the absolute very beginning. He stayed on. There is too much for him to lose if he left.  He has actually moved up to an E-2 for time served!

    Thank your positivity!

  • patti

    BZ!!

  • MomofJoseph

    Diahn - congrats!

Patti - glad to hear the good news!

Beth - I'm so sorry you didn't get the "I'm here" call.  As the others said, I started answering every call when my son was at BC.  (Telemarketers are taken off-guard when you answer the phone "Hello, is this Joseph?"  "Uhhhh, no." Me:  "Sorry - I'm expecting a call." CLICK.)

All but one of my calls came from an 847 number.  The last call (the "I'm a Sailor" call) came from "Spam Likely".  So glad I answered it.  :-)

And I also had an outgoing message on my cell that said, "Hello, if this is Joseph, I'm so sorry I missed your call.  I love you and I'm proud of you."

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

I work right around the corner from the March Air Reserve Base and there's an air show this weekend.  The Thunderbirds are out practicing - it's awesome!  Flying right over our office - such a beautiful sight to see!  I love it!

Diahn -- Did you see him??

patti -- I hope he's following the Dr's orders to heal quickly!! So by this time next week he'll be on to phase 2-- rebuilding, or 5 days from the letter?  Hoping that he heals completely and is able to complete BC AND find favor with A school for the wedding!

monwojo -- It's likely due to building maintenance or upgrades.  If I recall correctly there was a bunch of upgrades scheduled back in 2020 but then..... the world went pear shaped and they needed the spaces to "Social Distance" or sanitize one while moving "Clear" SR's to others... Then things just got wild with ROM, Quarantines and SIQ's and delayed shipping to A schools.... They may be back to working on finishing the projects that were delayed.

B'sNukeMoM -- They are so cool to see in flight!! I can't go to airshows though.  I can't watch the Stunt acts. The stress of worrying that they won't make it ruins all the fun for me and my anxiety ruins the fun for my family so I stay home and watch them fly over from a distance.  I got to see so many when I lived in San Diego.  My back yard backed to Mira Mar so Blue Angels, Top Gun, regular squadrons... I saw them all! HATED when it was transferred to the Marines though!! The Helos are LOUD and LONG!!! So much worse than the jets.

  • patti

Yes, he is in Phase 2. WHat is Phase 2 of the healing process? He is definitely following Dr's orders!

  • patti

    Hello All!

I spoke with my SR E-2 today!! He thinks (nothing is ever sure but death & taxes) he might be graduating in July!! Tomorrow will be his 200th day in BC.

THank you all for your prayers! Please continue to pray for him (and all the other SR's).

    Patti

  • Northwoodsmom

Patti, keep encouraging him. I know 200 days seems like forever but we know of other recruits that were there alot longer. Their perseverance is well noted by their Commanders!

  • Trey

wonderful news patti.. awesome to have a potential grad day.. he is a great and dedicated guy..

  • Diahn

belovedbyHim - YES!!! I watched the ceremony live and then watched it again with my husband later. He was in a few of the photos released by RTC as well!

  • belovedbyHim

patti -- Oh happy day!!! WOW 200 days in BC!!! I do hope when all is said and done you will stick around to help other new moms who may find themselves in similar circumstances!! You will be our expert on RCU for stress fractures for sure!!  I have no idea what Phase 2 of RCU for stress fractures entails.  You get to teach us new stuff!! You have 199 more days of information than I do!  BZ for him to keep after it!!

Diahn-- SWEET!!!! That must have felt soooo good to get to see him and to get photos too... Bonus!! I'm so happy for you!! Down to the Final Dozen!! Are you getting excited to go yet??

  • patti

Diahn, I will most definitely stick around! ;)

  • patti

Northwoodsmom, thank you for the encouragement. I told SR that his good behavior and perseverance will be noted. He agreed. When he went in to BC, I told him (in front of his recruiter), not to make eye contact, don't volunteer, speak only when spoken to, and lastly DON'T VOLUNTEER ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION! He has survived this far! :)

  • Diahn

Patti - wow - 200 days in and still going. What a strong young man he must be! I know it must be stressful for you as well - but his perseverance will pay off!

belovedbyHim - Definitely getting excited! It was so great to see him looking so sharp - made my anxiety levels drop for the first time since February! I’ll get another chance to see him at this week’s PIR and then 7 days later get to hug him! Can’t wait!

B’sNukeMom - I love a good air show! My Dad was AF and we got to see a lot of them through the years. (He was a private pilot, not an AF pilot.) My husband and kids and I lived in DC for a couple of years and went to the air shows at Joint Base Andrews - one year was Thunderbirds, the next was Blue Angels. So awesome to watch!

Hello Monday, We Meet Again Pictures, Photos, and Images for Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, and ...

  • belovedbyHim

patti -- HAHAHA!!!! My Sailor told me that NAVY stood for Never Again Volunteer Yourself!!  (Of course he has also re-enlisted twice so now I'm wondering if that Mensa IQ score was correct or if he's really just a slow learner!!  Kidding... He wanted to go career because he didn't like school (too much busy work... Guess what most of his work in the Navy has been...)) and he figured He'd "retire" at less than 40 and then have a second career! and be set for life at 65!
