I've been swamped with life and away for a couple of days so just now getting caught up.
Cali Navy Mom -- {{{{BNMH}}}}} I am so sorry you missed his call. It's for this very reason that I charge my cell phone in our room even though DH hates it. I just know there's no way I'd get to it elsewhere! I also missed a during BC and it just about killed me!! His dad was home and got the call but they are guys... It was very short... Even now... 10 years on, I get a pit in my stomach if I see I've missed a call or chat with him! BC is hard because they don't let them use their Cell phones (YET) That is changing but it has not changed for your SR. Just let your clients know what is going on and that you may need to check incoming calls, just in case. MOST calls are on the weekend but not ALL calls. Someone, once posted the logistics with the actual numbers but it was something like 1000 kids come in each week, there are less than 100 working payphones. It would be hard to give them all enough time on a single day.
Don't overfill the phone card. Mine never ended up using all his time.
B'sNukeMoM -- WOW!!! That is SOOOOOOO Cool!!! I hope this is all stuff they needed and that they are blessed for having it!

Goatmama -- Welcome. I left some information on your page when you joined back in Sept. You may want to go back and re-read that. As Chipmunk stated you won't know till he gets there and gets going on his P-days. Now with Sandboxx they are able to send you the PIR date as well as DIV number and address via text. you DO NOT have to use Sandboxx to get this information, Your SR Simply has to Opt IN to have them send it. This seems to happen anywhere from Processing Day 1 through P5. We don't have a better grasp on when folks are getting that notification because they aren't sharing it here.

You might also want to check the settings on your cellphone. I know when Verizon/iPhone does updates there's a feature where it will automatically send any "unrecognized" number to spam without ringing first. You can go in and change that setting so it will ring and you have the option to answer! Better safe than sorry!

Welcome to our new BC mom and Loved Ones! We are glad you have joined us!. This comment wall on our group page is the best place to ask all of your questions, posts your feelings and just start connecting. More of the members will see your posts here than elsewhere on the N4M site.
If you are using a mobile device, we recommend that you put it into desktop mode so you can scroll around the page easier. This site is a little old school and sometimes it can be more difficult to navigate it on a phone versus a computer.
Welcome aboard!! Come introduce yourself and say hi. No question is dumb, and all feelings are understandable! - My son is now out of the Navy, but he served 6 years, found the love of his life, married, is a father now with a Navy wife, so I still am an active-duty Navy Mom!

Has anyone else's SR gone through the PASS class? Mine started this week; he's had a rough go with a talkative ship and he's taking it to learn how to let go of the "big brother" trying to keep everyone out of trouble..and getting into trouble because it's not his job. From what I can find, success rate and all of that is really good, but I am t the helpless mom, can't help but worry stage of BC. Any tips or reassurances would be helpful!

legoNavymom03 - I am not familiar with this PASS class. Hopefully some of our more recent moms may have an idea.

rmarie25 -- We cannot confirm because RTC has not posted anything specific. HOWEVER, there have not been any 800 Div's since 2020.

PASS class.. hmm.. haven't heard about it but I do remember my sailor talking about how there were lessons in life stuff, like dealing with stress and other issues.. maybe it's similar.. It seems like a good thing and will be helpful to him.. it's a good thing...

legoNavymom03 -- This is still the best place to post BC questions since more folks will see it than when it's a separate post. Not everyone monitors the discussions.

Legomomnavy03 - my sailor graduated in November, and I don’t recall him making a comment about anything called the PASS class either, but like Trey, my sailor did talk about other classes that they were taking that involved life skills. Maybe these are just all of the same type of skills that all the SRs working on.
I know though, it is very unnerving worrying about how things are going when there’s not much information available. Especially too, because all we know is exactly Who are child is and however, they have historically handled an issue. I think that that definitely increases our potential for distress because we know our child but we don’t know anything about what’s happening in Boot Camp other than whatever they tell us or whatever you can glean from the videos and other materials out there online. I totally know where you are coming from.

Thanks all, it sounds lie it's a class to help SR that are dealing with transitional issues. He's always been the one to keep others out of trouble, so it sounds like he was voluntold to take the class to help with the transition from being in charge of others to being in charge of him. I have students that are currently serving that said they hadn't heard of it (and we're talking new sailors as of fall 2022) so it must be a new initiative.
Thank you all...I'm trying to pretend I'm fine with him being an adult and serving his country, but I am a chronic worrier. :)

legoNavymom03 -- You are in the right place! Just as your SR is learning to let others be in charge, you are here to learn how to manage your concerns. We have all been there, letting our kids go or we are in that process. Your feelings are valid and you are welcome to express them! We will try and answer questions.

hey lego.. great name.. my husband is an addict/collector.. we are all learning valuable lessons.. it's hard at times.. finding the balance between concern/letting go/being there/nagging/ etc. lol. I send my sailor a nag list at least once a month. just to keep in practice and let him know I think of him.
