Welcome to our new BC mom and Loved Ones! We are glad you have joined us!. This comment wall on our group page is the best place to ask all of your questions, posts your feelings and just start connecting. More of the members will see your posts here than elsewhere on the N4M site.
If you are using a mobile device, we recommend that you put it into desktop mode so you can scroll around the page easier. This site is a little old school and sometimes it can be more difficult to navigate it on a phone versus a computer.
Welcome aboard!! Come introduce yourself and say hi. No question is dumb, and all feelings are understandable! - My son is now out of the Navy, but he served 6 years, found the love of his life, married, is a father now with a Navy wife, so I still am an active-duty Navy Mom!

Has anyone else's SR gone through the PASS class? Mine started this week; he's had a rough go with a talkative ship and he's taking it to learn how to let go of the "big brother" trying to keep everyone out of trouble..and getting into trouble because it's not his job. From what I can find, success rate and all of that is really good, but I am t the helpless mom, can't help but worry stage of BC. Any tips or reassurances would be helpful!

legoNavymom03 - I am not familiar with this PASS class. Hopefully some of our more recent moms may have an idea.

rmarie25 -- We cannot confirm because RTC has not posted anything specific. HOWEVER, there have not been any 800 Div's since 2020.

PASS class.. hmm.. haven't heard about it but I do remember my sailor talking about how there were lessons in life stuff, like dealing with stress and other issues.. maybe it's similar.. It seems like a good thing and will be helpful to him.. it's a good thing...

legoNavymom03 -- This is still the best place to post BC questions since more folks will see it than when it's a separate post. Not everyone monitors the discussions.

Legomomnavy03 - my sailor graduated in November, and I don’t recall him making a comment about anything called the PASS class either, but like Trey, my sailor did talk about other classes that they were taking that involved life skills. Maybe these are just all of the same type of skills that all the SRs working on.
I know though, it is very unnerving worrying about how things are going when there’s not much information available. Especially too, because all we know is exactly Who are child is and however, they have historically handled an issue. I think that that definitely increases our potential for distress because we know our child but we don’t know anything about what’s happening in Boot Camp other than whatever they tell us or whatever you can glean from the videos and other materials out there online. I totally know where you are coming from.

Thanks all, it sounds lie it's a class to help SR that are dealing with transitional issues. He's always been the one to keep others out of trouble, so it sounds like he was voluntold to take the class to help with the transition from being in charge of others to being in charge of him. I have students that are currently serving that said they hadn't heard of it (and we're talking new sailors as of fall 2022) so it must be a new initiative.
Thank you all...I'm trying to pretend I'm fine with him being an adult and serving his country, but I am a chronic worrier. :)

It is called, BUD/S and SQT (Stages of a S.E.A.L.)

legoNavymom03 -- You are in the right place! Just as your SR is learning to let others be in charge, you are here to learn how to manage your concerns. We have all been there, letting our kids go or we are in that process. Your feelings are valid and you are welcome to express them! We will try and answer questions.

hey lego.. great name.. my husband is an addict/collector.. we are all learning valuable lessons.. it's hard at times.. finding the balance between concern/letting go/being there/nagging/ etc. lol. I send my sailor a nag list at least once a month. just to keep in practice and let him know I think of him.

Merry Christmas to everyone!! I realize that this year, Christmas may seem very strange, very different, even lonely and like you don't want to celebrate. Many of us are also missing our sailors or have even had to change and adjust our Christmas Day to other times. You are not alone, and it is okay to come share your feelings.
When I am struggling, I work on finding other projects or things to keep me occupied. I play music that my son liked to listen to, and I stay thankful that my sailor or vet, has stood the watch many holidays for their fellow shipmates, and for my protection.

rmarie25 - as I recall, it was about 2 weeks or more before we received the "form" letter in the mail with our son's mailing address and date for PIR. It seems though that some of the SRs may opt to have their information sent via Sandboxx App and so the form letter comes electronically. This was not an option when my son was at BC, so I am not as familiar with the process. I would double check your email spam folder though and trash in case it was sent there instead of to your inbox, if you did receive something from Sandboxx App.

Merry Christmas everyone! We are so excited! We finally heard from our sailor this morning before the crack of dawn after 4 weeks of silence! He said all is on track for his graduation date and we told him to look out for the SecAccForm we sent on Sandboxx because we only just found it a few days ago and filled it in! LOL! We still have so many questions but we feel better having heard from him and now praying all the more for this week and next with all the assessments....Blessings to you all!

Good evening everyone!!
Cali Navy Mom & others - be sure to go to the Navy BC website - Home (navy.mil) -
Here is the link to the Graduation page, be sure to scroll down and through all drop downs if they are there. - U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command > Graduation - the guest security form is there as well. They have one for 3 guests and 4 guests. I am not sure which will be valid for your PIR date.
4 guest - GUEST SECURITY ACCESS FORM (4 GUEST) V3.pdf (navy.mil)
3 guest - GUEST SECURITY ACCESS FORM (3 GUEST) V3.pdf (navy.mil)
Here is the link to the graduation dates and divisions - U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command > Graduation > Training Gr...
More information on the Sandbox App - SANDBOXX APP for letters to BootCamp - Navy For Moms (ning.com)
If you have received your sailors mailing address from Sandboxx you may go ahead and write them as well as print off the Security Access form and mail it in. I would make a copy and mail another one after you have received your first letter, or be sure to let your SR know that you sent the security form to them, and did they receive it?

Trey - Did you use the Sandboxx App, or receive your SRs mailing address via it? Those of us prior to this option are not very familiar with the way it works and I am not much help answering questions with regards to it. - Thanks!
Can anyone share how you received the Security Access Form if you only received your mailing address via the Sandbox App email? When my son was in, it was mailed to us via the form letter as I recall. My PIR was even prior to the tickets so a lot has changed with that regards since my son was at BC. I shared the link to print the form in my post last night.

we were in the in-between stage.. we got our security form from our sailor but we did use the Sandboxx app to send him letters everyday and the news page you can also buy. Sandboxx has definitely gotten bigger, more involved..

We received our sailor's address from Sandboxx but never used it to send letters. I think we downloaded the security form from Sandboxx and returned it via USPS. I ended up sending two security forms because my sailor didn't even know what it was for when he received the first one - it may be wise to wait until just a couple of weeks prior to PIR to sending it out.

sounds about right.. they do run some checks I believe and if the pir date changes, you may or may not have to resubmit another one.. I don't remember when my sailor was washed back..

Just a reminder on the Security Access form... You want to send that back at least 3 weeks BEFORE BS21 Date. Don't wait too long. Also be sure to include a note to your SR about it! They may not make the connection but it's critical that it gets turned in on time so that the Navy can do what they need to to get you and your party on the guest list! Your SR is the one who ultimately decides who they want to be on the list so be sure to be in regular communications about this as well.
