Good morning and Happy Tuesday!!!  Re: mailing addresses…once we know the ship and division, do we use the address listed for the specific ship listed on bootcamp.navy.mil? 

Rolo's Mom - YES, once you know the ship and Div # you may address mail to the address on RTC website.

Rolo's Mom - I just went to the bootcamp website and they have changed things around. If you found the ship addresses, all the more power to you, as I could not find it. 

This information from the pages to the right is what we also usually direct new members to, but I see that the "contact" link is no longer working. However, it does show the proper format for addressing your mailed letters. - Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recru...

FYI - Even if you have a Ship and Div# and the addresses for the ships, it may still take several days before your SR will receive their mail, as each Div has to send a Recruit Mail Petty Officer to be trained to handle the mail for their division.

Rolo's Mom - I am glad you found it. RTC has changed the website and they used to have a link at the top with FAQ that was easy to go to. Maybe it was just difficult for me, because I know what it used to look like.

Please note that each Div still has to train their own RMPO (Recruit Mail Petty Officer) to sort and deliver the Division Mail.  This can take several weeks so your sailor may not write back right away.  This is NOT cause for panic.  Presume that No News IS Good News!!!

Rolo’s Mom - congrats on getting an address!!!  I don't know if anyone shared the letter-writing tips with you, but the most helpful one was the NO GLITTER tip.  I did not realize how many cards at the Dollar Store have glitter on them.  I started writing my son as soon as he left, and I had already written on a card with glitter.  I had to make a copy of it and mail that to him instead, but I was so grateful that I learned it BEFORE I mailed it.

Oh yes, I’ve been advising my peeps not to have anything on the outside or inside of the envelope. My brother was at Basic years ago and it was the same way. Absolutely no decorations or confetti, etc.
