Hi Blyswmn. We will be going to the commissioning, too. If you haven't made your hotel reservations yet, you might want to look into the hotels that are offering us discounted rates. I think they are listed on the commissioning web page, but your sailor may also be able to get you a list.

hello, every body. my son got to the ship in sept. we got to go see him labor day. it is so exiciting. we are suppose to get some infor on the commissing but havent got anything yet. I did go ahead and make reservation at a hotel in nc. it is the hilton river view. they are going fast I suggest every one make reservation soon. hope to see some of you there. keep in touch. I am trying to figure out how to get on face book. I have face book but dont know how to look navy moms ups. on it. well lot of love. jr mom Roll Tide.!!!!!

Hi Ruth!! The best information on the commissioning is on the commissioning website. There is a link for it on the ship's website. I'm not sure how you would look for Navy moms on facebook other than looking for a group by that name on there.

Hi Denise!! The ship's web site is www.gravely.navy.mil . They have some contact information there like the address to send mail to your sailor, and some phone numbers to the ship. You may want to click on the tab labeled "OMBUDSMAN's Corner", to get the command Ombudsman's contact information. You can send her an e-mail with your contact information, and she can add you to her contact list. She also has a facebook page set up that you can send a friend request to. It should come up as Gravely Ombudsman.

My son just got notified that he will be joining the USS Gravely. His last ship had a facebook page where they posted pictures and things. Does the Gravely have this as well. I am feeling a little overwhelmed with the change. Navy life is still new to me.

I just wanted to say I'm not too happy. With the video of the Gravely being out there for the whole world to see right now while their on deployment, don't get me wrong its a great video But to much information was put out there about the ship. And there are to many spies out there. I have a son on that ship right now and it scares me to see this right now.I feel they should of waited til they were back,to put it out. there. :(

Haven't seen any activity here for days! Where is everyone? My son really likes being on the ship and is getting his sea legs. It's great that they can communicate with us. Certainly not like the old days.

Our son gave us a military email and we've had more communication using that rather than Facebook. They have been busy and haven't been in port much lately. Hope you hear something soon!

I just love the Sixth Fleet Facebook site. There are a couple more pictures of the Gravely on there this am. I'm hoping someday I'll see my sailor in a picture. But what a thrill for those moms/wives who do see their sailors!
