Yes, the 500 dollar line of credit is the same. Warn him! Mine treated it as extra income.

Ugh! Thanks everyone. This is just so frustrating because I don't really know what he's done, besides not keep track of anything while he spent and spent. There was a $300 overpayment which the Navy tried to take back after the account was below that amount. That seems to be the point all access was frozen. This is his first experience with banking. I'm at his mercy for info and it's driving me crazy because he can't get much. I want to help but can't do anything. He's an adult, he needs to learn, blah blah blah! How expensive do lessons need to be? @txfuturebabydocmom... which ones are on base?

  • CDMom

Thanks Kathy for sharing the pictures.  I know you are proud of your Sailor.  I have an address question.  My son is at Ft Sam Houston and he gave me his address, but it comes up as invalid and I ordered something for him and they are having a hard time delivering it because it is a gated community.  Do you know how I can find out his correct address?  When I called the post there in San Antonio they said it ia a valid address.  Thanks.  Dale

  • CDMom

My son has his money with Navy Federal too.  He seems to be more cautious in his spending now, but he over drew his account here at home several times.  These are hard lessons and he has had classes and I've taught him about money management, but they just have to learn the hard way sometimes.  I hear your heart MomAnt it is frustrating watching them flounder around, but they will finally get it.

  • StevenHMmom

Okay......I think this is the correct page...I was soooo lost...I was on San Antonio A school for Ma's...yes I thought the MA was for mama..LOL...at least I can laugh at my self.

Do we have break down of week by week.  My sailor arrived in San Antonio on Jan 14th. and I only saw him for about 8 hours so REALLY would like to visit since I am not that far...WHAT DO I DO????????

  • Maria ( 9/132 - HM- 04-2011)

Hi Stevenhmmom, there really is no breakdown week by week. My son has been for just under a week and I have learned that planning anything long term does not work. When does your son's class start? We waited until he was in phase 2 (if I remember right a couple of weeks after he started a school) as that is when he could be out until midnight. Now that your sailor is in a school at least you can communicate more and figure out what is the best time to visit. Do you live in TX? The only thing that I can tell you is that once they start A school they are super busy studying . They cram so much information in such a short period of time. Things do settle down. Our son is just about to complete his c school and move on to his next base. Best of luck in this new part of the journey.
  • Maria ( 9/132 - HM- 04-2011)

Talbertsbt2800, my son finish his class room training for surgicle tech and is just about done with the clinical portion of it. He loved it. I hope your son enjoys it as much. Best of luck. Lists of studying it seems much more than A school so just tell your son to hit the books.
  • Maria ( 9/132 - HM- 04-2011)

Txbabydocmom, getting mail is very difficult in San Antonio , we also just sent packages to the UPS store. It was much easier for our son to pick up packages. There is a cost ($10) if your sailor does not have a po box.

My son just called me yesterday; his class picked their orders yesterday and he got the 3rd MLG in Okinawa, Japan.  He's very happy with the choice.

I have a box to mail to him...UPS or US mail?  The only address he gave me is for his PO box there, which I haven't used yet.

  • CDMom

My son has been there for two weeks now and we still don't know when his class starts.  I have mailed two packages to him, but am afraid the address he was given is not right.  I was told the best thing for them to do is get a PO Box.  I talked to my son yesterday and he sounds good.  I hope they send the package back to me because it has his running shoes in it.  The other package I think I was able to correct the address.  It is hard for them to pick up packages because the mail room closes at three and they don't get done with duties until later.

  • Maria ( 9/132 - HM- 04-2011)

SteveHMmom, that is great. We leave in northern Tx so we have been spoiled as we have been able to son almost every other month since he arrived to San Antonio in April. He will finish up his C school in early feb, then off to Jacksonville. I am just so happy that he is stateside. Best of luck to your sailor. Tell him to study, study, study,
  • StevenHMmom

My son just told me he may phase up Friday and can leave base....
I dont know what C school he will attend but I will yell him to Study..Study

    Hello everyone,

its been 13 days since our son John arrived in SA and no address what so ever.   we have some civilian clothes to mail and its just important to have a physical address too.   it seems from reading previous messages that is difficult for them to get mail.    he has time now since he has to wait about 3-4 more weeks prior starting his A school.   anyway, it seems we got better communication when he was in BC getting letters, phone calls etc.   now that he has his cell phone and labtop....forget it, its worst.   i am sure he is communicating with his friends online game or cell phone.    i am not too sure i like this waiting 5 weeks break period since he is getting into his old routine of taking this lightly or playing video games.    he told us that he is working out and doing some cleaning but that is about it.    well not much info than that.    we told him its going to be a lot of studying once class start....though he does not seem to concern.

Congrats to all moms and dads for your children A school graduation!

we shall wait and see what happens ....right?  =)

  • LeysaNavymom

Thanks Bellachella for your info.   it seems his bldg has internet and i have not heard of a problem w/internet yet...beside he does  not have a roommate so more time of freedom to be online i suppose.

    thank you for your message.

  • celinamae

Hi all. My boyfriend just arrived in SA today and wasn't able to take his phone with him. Can anyone brief me on what's happening with him? Thanks!
  • wlbradford (Rota Spain)

Why wasn't he able to take his phone? My sailor was able to take hers.
  • celinamae

My flight from Seattle was cancelled and I wasn't able to deliver his phone at the airport. :(
  • Maria ( 9/132 - HM- 04-2011)

Talbert any time if i can. Help let me know. I am new at this but happy to Share what little I know
  • CDMom

Talbertsbt2800, Could you give us the address of the UPS store.  I have mailed two packages and many letters and he is not getting anything yet.  It is so frustrating trying to get an address.  I heard it is also good for them to get a PO Box.  Which I've asked my son to do.  I hope they mail the packages back.

My son has been there in San Antonio two weeks and is looking forward for A School to start, but does not know the date.  He has heard that his A school graduation date is May 5.

  • CDMom

LeysaNavymom, my son Caleb has been at SA 16 days.  He graduated Jan 6 and left for SA Jan 7.  I wonder if they know each other?  The mail situation is very frustrating.  My son gave me an address, but when I ordered anatomy flash cards and had them mailed to him they were having trouble delivering them.  He still hasn't gotten them.  We just have to pray they stay motivated and develop good habits.  Though it is hard for we mom's it is normal for them to communicate with their friends more than us.  I think that changes as they get older.

  • Doreen(07/272)

What happens if they fail c school?
  • momshousedivided2-Sh 09 Div 023

Good morning everyone. Hope everyone has a good Monday. For those os us that have kiddos thathave not classed up just yet- the waiting is hard. I know I keep asking my son if he needs anything to help him study or get his head ready for all that studing, but he acts like I am from another planet. haha. When will he learn that I am the one that tried to made sure homework was done and he did not need to be a procrastinator( I am not soooo swuft at NOT being a procrastinator myself) haha. Not knowing if he is going to need that little "extra" so that he can excel and do what he set out to do is hard... we still have that "mom push" in us. Don't we?   Make it a great day... Cause Monday don't care that you don't like it.... hahahahahahahahaha

  • joemama

Yes - what is the UPS store address?  Oh - and just found out my son will be waiting for a month for his class to fill up.  What kinds of things will he be doing?  and does anyone know if they get to go ahead and phase up?  Right now this newest group is simply so tired.  I think they were in 5 airports within 24 hours due to weather delays.

  • Maria ( 9/132 - HM- 04-2011)

  • wlbradford (Rota Spain)

Ditto...I won't be able to attend either, but I would sure like to see some pics. My sailor is in my photo, tall girl with the pixie cut. I believe they nicknamed her Audrey Hepburn because of her hair. :)

    Thank you!!

  • Tink

  • LeysaNavymom

hello cdmom and housemomdivided2...our son John graduated boot camp Dec. 29 and then he took a 8 days off since we live here in IL.  He arrived at SA Jan. 7.   No address what so ever.  Though Thank you 1windhaven-maria for the UPS address at least its something.  He has some Navy Fed bank statements that we need to send him, he should be receiving those there not here.   Anyway, he needs to learn his finances "hopefully" to keep track.

cdmom...i do not know if my son knows your son since he does not say much other than he met some people and that is working out/cleaning.   i cannot wait until he starts school.   you can send me his name and i can ask John.

yes...we do have that maternal love of making sure our kids are on track of things.     though now he is 18 years old and he is on his own.  he will have to learn to take care of things and learn maybe the hard way.    at this moment i am calling him once a week....since if i wait for his call might take a month or more.....=)

Thank you everyone for all the support and info.

    lets keep in touch.

    leysa

If you are on Facebook go to Basic Medical Technician Corpsman Program --- they post pictures of the graduations and of each sailor individually as well receiving their certificate . Very nice since many of us were unable to attend !

  • wlbradford (Rota Spain)

I can't seem to find the Facebook page. Can someone post the link for me? Thanks!!
