My daughter & SIL saw Charlie all the time.  I have a Charlie t-shirt that she got me for Christmas.  We saw him just as he was slinking under the water once.

Over the weekend I finally got my frozen chicken in the IP figured out.  20 minutes + natural release.  I just cooked them with water and BBQ sauce and they were fabulous.

  • NancyJo (NNPTC)

JayDee, that's what I've wanted to know!! Thanks!

  • MichianaMom

I'm a couple of conversations behind, but B'sNuke there is never a bad game when you're at Lambeau! Great pictures.

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

    Hi all - Happy Tuesday!

Hubby made it home safe & sound - had lots of pictures and stories to tell.  He & B had an amazing time.  They even got to see Bart Starr on Saturday and then again at the game on Sunday.

JayDee - I did 3 frozen chicken breasts for 21 minutes and natural pressure release (NPR) - about 1/2 jar of salsa (it was the bigger jar) and a good helping of mexican seasoning (like taco mix).  Turned out yummy - shredded it up & had burritos.  I had been scared to do the frozen chicken but glad I finally gave it a try.  Definitely a keeper.  (Ok, I'll make a discussion for this to keep it out of the current comments!)

We're having extreme heat (and wind) here today and tomorrow.  Pretty crazy - please pray that we don't end up with fires......

lol....I'm starting to feel like I really need to get an IP....I need another kitchen appliance like another hole in the head, but they sound pretty cool!

  • JayDee659

Maybe we need a new group "Navy Moms with Instant Pots"?

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

JayDee - I just made a new discussion above but we could make a new group instead.  That might be easier to find.  What do you guys think?

There's a crock pot group on here that I belong to but it's not very active....

J's/S'smom - I think you're gonna like it.  I belong to the official facebrook group for the Instant Pot Community and there are over 700,000 members!  When I joined back in January there were about 250,000 members.

bigsky21 - I wasn't sure how much I would use one but now I'm glad I got it.  I use it multiple nights....I also just bought my mom one and I got one for B too.

  • Chipmunk

B'sNuke Mom - if you make an instant pot group, may I join even if I don't have an instant pot??  Just reading the recipes would be fun and I have a brand new TW pressure cooker for the microwave that I need to pull out and use. Maybe this would inspire me.  (TW = Tupperware, not some new Navy lingo you don't know - just in case, seeing as how I had to look up what an instant pot was on google when I first joined this group.)

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

    Hi all - Happy Wednesday!

Chipmunk - of course you can join the group!  I haven't decided if we are going to make it yet, but anyone will be welcome ;D

Gutsy - Welcome aboard the Nuke Moms group!!

I missed a few the other day, but welcome all!!

PIR is coming up for a few of you, I think. Erin, AmbersMom, Green2Blue and anyone else that I might have missed. If you haven't gotten your "I'm a sailor" call yet, don't loose heart. And remember to discuss those BS calls in your PIR group. Have safe travels to GL. Hopefully there won't be the construction that was mentioned elsewhere but get there early, try to get tickets the day before. Check out Sarge's new updated information, especially if you can't make it to his meet n greet. And getting to the Great Hall at 6:30 AM wasn't any too early for us (but we didn't do tickets), there were people arriving already. We parked in garage on RTC and there was covered area for waiting in line. You get the best seat option and time to buy challenge coins, snacks inside, and T-shirts.

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

    Welcome DOREMI to the group!

I think it's interesting that they are issuing tickets now for PIR.  I guess that's a better way of keeping control of who gets in.    I second Sarge's Meet N Greet - definitely a fun time for the night before PIR!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Patti - I saw a story on the news where a man was proposing to his girlfriend at the zoo and Fiona photobombed them!  It was so cute ;D

Good morning! Haven't yet been on this page since my son PIR 10/20. Now in SC.
  • CSW

It's crazy how quickly time flys! You'll be heading to GC for A school graduation before you know it!

Just wanted to keep our Navy family in prayers as movement of ships to pacific puts three carriers in 7th fleet.

  • Nicksmom

Time does fly! Nice that we can have contact now with our sailors. Did anyone's sailors obtain a bike while there. My son would like us to send his down. Any sites he could check if anyone is leaving or selling items they no longer need?

Prayers always. This is a very unsettling time to be serving.
  • Tx Mom of Far Away Nuke

Nicksmom - facebook has local "buy/sell/trade" sites for exactly that.

Prayers for sure. I'm sick to my stomach every time that lil N Korean psycho threatens to bomb Guam.

Nicksmom - Glad to hear from you! I see you have a FB recommendation for a bike. My son as well wanted us to "ship" his bicycle and I said No!. He was going to see about buying on from someone there, but I wasn't aware of the FB site. He went two weekends ago and purchased one from the Big NEX - "109 bucks, Helmet 17, and lights 6 or 7" - his exact text! - I asked him about a lock and he said he already had one, so I left it at that.

I haven't really had a chance to ask him how often he uses it, I just know he is. He commented that the chow hall was a 5 min walk from his BEQ, which when in Indoc was his main reason for wanting a bike.

  • mattsmom

Nicksmom My son had us bring his bike to GC when he was in A school. He kept it there through Power School and I believe he used it frequently. They are also required to wear helmets when riding their bikes.
  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Hi all - Happy Thursday!  I can't believe it's almost Halloween.  Then it will be Thanksgiving and Christmas is right around the corner!  Yikes, this year has flown by.....

Nicksmom - I hope your son is getting settled in and learning the lay of the land so to speak.  Remind him to enjoy this little break as soon he will be busy!

  • AngelsBreath

    Morning Ladies

  • Nicksmom

Thanks for the info Chipmonk. I know he did check NEX and they were around $150 he said. He really likes his bike and he has a helmet and lock.
B'sNukemom thanks I will remind him. Hopefully he will start class next week. He said they might have to wait for more to make a class.
Tx mom of far away nuke. Which fb page is that? Does he search GC buy sell?
I thought there might be a site just for GC students.
Have to sign off to run errands will be back later today. Thanks again for all the help
  • auntishell

Hi All! Thank you for adding me to your group. My nephew graduates PIR soon and then will head to A school. This is our first family member in the Navy.

  • bigsky21

Nicksmom, what class is your son in? Mine is 1807, he's hoping to start next week also....

  • Tx Mom of Far Away Nuke

    Nicksmom -

I think there would be 2 ways on Facebook.  1) a group called Buy and Sell Goose Creek or 2) go to Facebook marketplace from his phone and select the miles radius that he would want to search.  Of course he has to belong to Facebook to access this.

     Good luck!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Another new member! Welcome to TXNNEWBIEMOM.

Feel free to jump right in with any questions you may have!

  • Buzzbeck

B'sNuke: Photobombed by Fiona, that's hippolarious.
  • Chipmunk

    Happy PIR day!!

Welcome Antishell &TXNNEWBIEMOM - we share a lot of things on this site related to our Nuke sailors and our own lives with them home or away, and sometimes fun things as well.

Nicksmom - I asked my son yesterday about his bike. It is actually a Phoenix brand mountain bike with 18 gears, I think. He found it at the mini Nex, and it is serving him well. They are not allowed to run at NNPTC except for during PT and so they can only do a brisk walk or ride a bike.

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

    Hi all - Happy Friday!

Buzzbeck - haha hippolarious! Love it ;D

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

  • Buzzbeck

It took awhile, but after 2.5 years, I have developed the habit of wearing Red on Fridays, thanks to all of you.
  • JayDee659

My shirt today has a big, red, glittery anchor on it!  Love that glitter.

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

I love anchors JayDee!  And anchors with glitter, even better!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Another new member!  Welcome to Blueberry.

THANK YOU! I’m happy to be here. I have so much to learn. My son just left for boot camp on Tuesday, and he’ll be traveling to Nuclear Power School in Charleston, SC immediately after. I’m looking forward to connecting with other Nuke families!
  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Blueberry - after PIR your son will head to Goose Creek for both his A school and his Power school.  Prototype school is after and can be in either Goose Creek or Ballston Spa, NY.  The total time from BC to Proto grad is about 2 years.  Be sure to read the pages to the right under the member profiles.  They give a good idea of what happens in the various schools.  Also Chipmunk posted a discussion up above that gives info on their A school.

  • Blueberry

Awesomeness. I plan on devoting a good bit of time this weekend to reading all material and getting a better understanding of, well, everything. I am still reeling from my recruit’s departure, but slowly staring to get used to my new identity as a Navy Mom/Nuke Mom. Whew- big week. Big stuff!
  • JayDee659

Blueberry, I'm sure you've already heard this, but keep your phone close at hand at all times.  You really never know when you might hear from your sailor.  I kept mine on, even in church.  Even now it's always at hand, especially when my sailor is at sea.  Even my boss understands that a call from my sailor is priority.

  • bigsky21

Shoot, I keep forgetting about red on Fridays....I don't have much red, I need to get a couple shirts I like in red so I will remember!!

JayDee659 I carry my phone everywhere now, even when I take the dogs out to potty....you just never know when they will get a chance to call :)

  • bigsky21

Concerning Thanksgiving - if anyone has a Sailor at GC that has no plans for Thanksgiving one of the dads is trying to get a group together so no one spends the holiday alone. If anyone is interested in his info I have it.

I'm hoping my son decides to join the group, this will be his first Thanksgiving without family. I already had a trip planned and paid for before they changed his boot camp date from February to August so I won't be able to go to Charleston to be with him :( He says he's fine with it, but I think once the day arrives and there's no big dinner and family it will be hard. Then again, I'm probably more upset about it than he is! He's got so much new and exciting stuff going on and I'm just missing him.....

  • JayDee659

Bigsky21 I have a pocket in EVERYTHING just for my phone.  If no pocket it goes in my bra.  I've gotten some looks when my boobs start ringing and I go digging around and pull out a phone.

What's kind of tricky is when they call from the ship there's a delay.  I get lots of spam marketing calls so when I say hello and there's a delay I have to make myself hang on.  Usually it pays off and I'll eventually hear my sailors voice.

  • bigsky21

JayDee659 that made me lol for real....hope nobody heard me :D

  • Blueberry

JayDee659- thank you. My phone has been glued to me since my son left, and I’m pretty sure it’s going to be there now and forever. And like you, I will make no apologies for it! Everyone understands, which is awesome.
  • Tx Mom of Far Away Nuke

Blueberry - I also have my phone glued to my side since my son joined the Navy.  I never want to miss a call from him.  Never.

    :)

  • NNLori

Well, my son has officially moved on to A school! Now I have a new adventure to explore. He is an ET and says he will have to wait a couple weeks before there are enough ET's to start a new class. He is getting acquainted with the base and busy himself getting his uniform fixed and other responsibilities and paperwork. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions but I will read all the information here before I start throwing them out!! LOL!

To those of you with loved ones in boot camp. Hang in there it is a difficult time of no contact. But, this time passes, granted it seems very very slowly but it will pass and soon you will be in Great Lakes for an absolutely amazing experience of Graduation (PIR).
