khryse, just wanted to jump on and congratulate you and your son. I know how tough these courses are and these young nukes deserve so much respect for their hard work and dedication. Have a great time in SC. Prayers for safe travels.

Congratulations to all of you who are attending Prototype graduations & maybe others?? I hope you have a chance to get some sightseeing done as well as have some Family Fun time!

May you know today how much your mean to your family and to your children! Have a wonderful day and hopefully, if your sailor is not out of communication, you will get a call. I don't recall if you mentioned that you do have some grandchildren, I am hoping that my daughter is able to coordinate at least a video hello, if not a live call from our two year old grandbaby to her grandpa.

Northwoodsmom - Yes, these are my Nuke vets that live in Michigan.  They did the original wedding 7/19/20 in her mom's back yard.  Then they had 3 date changes and finally had the "celebration" on 5/22/22.  It was perfect!

Khryse ? - Did you have a graduation this weekend? I know we had a few - be sure to come share with us. 

Chipmunk - Yes! He graduated on Friday! My husband and daughter were able to go. I wasn’t able to make it as I committed to going to youth camp as a sponsor for our church. I was able to FaceTime so I saw him walk across the stage! He is scheduled to report to Japan soon. He is working on getting all of his paperwork and medical completed this week and then he should be headed home sometime after that! I can’t wait to see him and hug him!! We are very proud of him. He feels so relieved to have completed and qualify as a Nuke. He was nervous since he had to repeat Power School but he persevered through it! 
Bravo Zulu to all those that have graduated!

Khryse - Wow, I did not realize he had been set back in Power School. I know there are others who struggle with PS but do better in Prototype and others that struggle with Prototype, yet did just fine in PS. As I have learned over the years, in the end - what matters is that they passed and to some extent they head to their duty stations and then the qualifications start all over again. 

I am sorry you were not able to attend graduation, but so glad you got to FaceTime and I know you are looking forward to that hug!! We need to catch up!.

B'sNukeMom,  What a perfect family picture. And the weather looks like it was perfect as well. Looks like 3rd time was the charm !!  I do have one question though... how did they convince your husband to wear pants ?? LOL !!

mom of mrams - funny that your remember he doesn't like to wear pants lol!  He did change into shorts for the reception.  And yes, the weather was beautiful and 3rd time was a charm!!!

We got a nice surprise this morning.  Our son texted us to watch the live stream for Ascent Church in Virginia Beach because we would get to see him. It's not the same as being there in person, but it was still nice.

Hi All and Happy Tuesday!

Does anyone know what the schedule for EMN based in Hawaii would be? My sailor mentioned 12, 12 shift so I get the 12 hrs working but i get a random text at 2 or 3am my time??  I just don't want to reach out while my sailor is asleep and I don't thing they are allowed phones while working??

Nautical Mom - I don't have an answer for you....hopefully someone else will chime in!

Nautical Mom - is your sailor on a ship or in the yards? / Base? I don't know much about Hawaii - Maybe one of those moms will reply. I also don't recall where you are located at, with regards to time zone difference between you and your sailor. 

What I do know is that my son was able to email from the ship sometimes. They also have access to cell service at times, in various areas of the ship, depending on where it is at. So, it might be that when he has a break or is leaving after a duty shift that he is able to text you. 

I would just text him messages and not worry about whether he is able to answer or not. I figure if my son is able to talk or text, he will reach out to me, but then my kids are just use to the fact that I answer the phone all the time. I honestly rarely even turn my phone off in the doctor's office - it has always been my kid's lifeline to me. I also have the privilege of not having to silence or be without my phone much. Although there are times like this morning when I had it plugged in charging and forgot to take back with me when I was getting a shower. 

Nautical Mom- If you son's boat is in shipyard they must leave their phones in car or gate. If they are in harbor they must check them before entering boat.  I do not know about carriers. Once deployed phones are wiped when they get on and off. You will have an email connection but it will be read by others. Same with mail. Right now there's a five hour difference Central Daylight Time. I agree with Chipmunk, texting when you can is best and he'll be in contact when he can.

Nautical Mom - Yes, my son is on a carrier, and he seems to have a different set of parameters at times, depending on what they are doing. I have heard that they have had their phones locked or taped or something like that during certain training situations. Then at other times they have access to their phones.

Pizanche - Mine went in 5 years ago - in one sense it seems like just yesterday and I am still learning, then in another sense, I am ready for him to be done, but unfortunately, it is not likely that he will be coming back home any time soon. My DIL reenlisted so I will be around for a while.
