Pizanche - Congratulations to your sailor, may he continue steady and strong to the finish line of Prototype!  My primary knowledge is of carriers, but I know we have others who have knowledge of subs if that is the route he is going.

I hope you will be able to attend his graduation!

  • MomofJoseph

Chipmunk - Thank you for taking the time to share what you did about Nukes.  I had heard that they are first on, last off, but had forgotten!  I appreciate the reminder because when my son is assigned to a boat, I would certainly have been standing there wondering why he wasn't coming.  :-)

  • Chipmunk

MomofJoseph - Yes, the fanfare for our Nukes can be pretty minimal. My son's ship has been in and out of port on a lot of underways and sometimes his duty schedule means he is not even off the ship until the day after RTP.

Here’s my share Chipmunk! Hope this counts he’s not in GC anymore. This is one of the many exams he was telling me for the past 3 months. Never ending exams and quals. Hang in there new moms, the roller coaster ride has not finished in GC. Congratulations to all the graduates this month !

Congratulations B’s Nuke Mom and to B&C so excited for your family

  • joe-mom

That's awesome, Gigi! Congrats to your sailor!

  • Chipmunk

Yes Gigi - The never ending exams and qualifications and then promotion exams as well!!

Thinking about all of our sailors both at school and in the fleet, as well as the shore. I am learning that there are a lot of shore duty jobs that have specific ties to our sailors in the fleet, and how important those are as well.

May those traveling to graduations have safe travels!

Happy Thursday!  The baby shower was a huge success!  Little Oli got so many nice things - they are now ready for him to arrive.  We had such a good time - C and I got the whole room organized, all the baby clothes washed and put away, the many, many books (you can really never have too many books lol!) on his book shelf.  Closet organizer put together, bins for drawers, so much fun stuff!  He's due in May and our plan is hopefully to go back sometime in June.  That will give B&C a few weeks to settle in and bond with him first.  It snowed a bit each morning - looked beautiful and would melt by mid afternoon.  I handled the cold weather quite well - although we didn't venture out much lol!  Now I'm just trying to get caught up on everything here at work.....ugh!

  • Amouse

Does anyone know where and when to look for tomorrow's graduation video?

  • Gigi

My son’s was uploaded on Youtube  late afternoon that Friday search the class number  (ex. NNPTC 2204-01 or NPTU 2201-01)

  • Gigi

If you follow NNPTC or NPTU Fb page they also post it there with their individual pictures

  • Chipmunk

Gigi - Thank you for sharing, I really had no idea, I am not sure if they recorded them for my son's graduations.

B'sNukeMom - that is wonderful!! I am glad that the baby shower was such a huge success, and you were able to accomplish getting so many things ready for the baby.

  • Amouse

    Gigi, Thank you!!!

Just dropping in to say HI!!  My sailor has passed A-school and is now in T-track.  He was doing some meetings to qualify for Watch Supervisor, whatever that means.  I went to the graduation and it was nice to see him.  I still lurk in the background, reading the posts.

  • Northwoodsmom

JNMnavymomOH, congratulations they work so hard.

  • MomofJoseph

JNMnavymomOH, Congrats to your son for completing A-school!  Do you know how long his T-track is?  (My son's T-track was 9 - 10 weeks because he was the first group to graduate after Power School classed up.)  Hoping you'll get to see your Sailor soon!

Thank you for your prayers for Comps for Power School.  My son passed and graduated on Friday and is home now!  Whoop whoop!!!  We are still praying for those who are having to re-Comp - hoping they have great success next week!

  • Northwoodsmom

MomofJoseph, so happy for your son, seems like he found his niche. Enjoy every moment of your time together and get some sleep!

  • Chipmunk

JNMnavymomOH & MomofJoseph - Congratulations to your sailors!!

  • Chipmunk

Good Morning !! I am just wanting to clarify something - Did I read in one of the recent posts about graduation - Are they still requiring you to show a proof of vaccination for A school, PS, or Prototype Graduation?

And as I recall, we also had to show ID's, ? car registration ?, I know our sailors have to put our names on the list. Did our sailors need to know our SSN? - I just need to jog my memory. Thanks!!

  • joe-mom

JNMnavymomOH - Congrats to your son! Mine also graduated A-school last Friday with the MM class. We weren't able to be there but watched it on YouTube later that day. Really happy you were able to see the graduation in person and hope you had a wonderful time with your sailor!

MomofJoseph - Congrats, also, to your son for passing his power school comps! That's quite an achievement. I can't answer for JNMnavymomOH, but my son told me last night that he'll be in T-track for about 8 weeks. He may have to have knee surgery during that time. If that happens, he'll be on convalescent leave for a while but will hopefully still be able to start Power School with his class.

  • Pizanche

    Congrats to all the Graduates.

    Happy First Day of Spring!

(This is still one of my favorites lol!)

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

B&C's best friends (he was also Navy - B's roommate all throughout nuke school and after) had their baby this morning!  Everyone is happy and healthy!

    B&C have 8 weeks to go <3

  • Northwoodsmom

JNMnavymomOH, sorry I forgot to congratulate you on your Sailors accomplishments. I am so thankful for all their hard work, I remember how tough it was for many of them.

joe-mom - I'm sorry to hear that your son needs knee surgery.  :-(  But it's encouraging that he can get it taken care of during T-track.  I hope he is able to recover quickly and be with his same class in Power School.  (I'll be praying about that.)  I hope you get to hear from him often during t-track.  It's a nice break for them before the rigor of Power School.

Chipmunk - I can address your question about vaccination cards in regards to PS graduation.  We did not need vaccination cards and did not even answer any questions regarding vaccinations.  All we had to do is provide full name, DL number, and SSN to my son.  He submitted those and then we showed our licenses at the gate.

  • MomofJoseph

JNMnavymomOH - I saw your post on Lancertrackmom's discussion, but wanted to comment here (since it's off-topic for the original discussion).  You mentioned that your son said he will be in t-track for 2 months and then graduate in October.  I think your son and joe-mom's son will be in Power School together!   That will be so cool if y'all are at graduation together

  • joe-mom

MomofJoseph - Thank you so much for your prayers and well wishes. He's pretty sure he'll be able to start Power School with his class, so I'm hoping that's the case. Since A school graduation, we have talked to him almost every day. Even FaceTimed a few nights ago. It's been so great to reconnect after such a long time.

I'd love it if I could meet JNMnavymomOH at Power School graduation - and any other moms from this group who are planning to attend.

  • JNMnavymomOH

I would love to make friends and meet another Mom at Graduation.  The only person my son introduced me to was the SLPO of his class at A-school graduation.

  • Northwoodsmom

I just met up with Katherine, what a marvelous time we had she was only minutes from my Dad in Florida. Our lunch turned into a 3 hour meeting. She is such a beautiful Lady inside and out.

I hope you and joe-mom get to meet up.

  • joe-mom

JNMnavymomOH - Talked to my son last night and he definitely has to have knee surgery, which means his Power School start will be delayed by 2 months. So now he won't be able to start with his A-school class. It's a bummer (especially since I won't be able to meet you at graduation!), but he's taking it in stride and has a positive attitude. He just wants to be able to run again!

NWM - How wonderful that you and Katharine were able to connect and spend some time together.

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

joe-mom - well bummer on the surgery but glad to see has a positive attitude about it.  Good thing is, the time delay still counts towards his contract time!

I'm excited as we are heading out on vacation next week.  Going to Branson, MO for a week.  If anyone has any suggestions as to what to see/do, I'm all ears.  So far the only thing planned is the Aquarium - tickets are purchased!  Youngest son and his fiancee are joining us and they already have 2 different days of golf planned.  Hubby and I don't golf (unless you count putt-putt lol!) so we'll look for something else to do then.  I did see they have the Salt Caves there so we want to do a hike....and we want to see a show, just haven't figured out which one.....

  • Chipmunk

B'sNukeMom - I am not familiar with salt caves in Branson, MO - Look on their visitor info website. I don't know if the cave at Silver Dollar City is back open or not - But if you want to do some fun stuff - just go to Silver Dollar City, you can see shows, crafts, ride the rides and eat yummy food!! - Sorry - that is still one of our favorite places to visit, and the primary reason we go to Branson, MO!

  • Chipmunk

joe-mom - So sorry to hear about your sailor. Keep us posted!

  • joe-mom

    Thanks B'sNukeMom and Chipmunk!

B's - Branson is fun, lots to do. And it's beautiful there. We were there in summer of 2021 with extended family. Some of us went to Silver Dollar City, which, as Chipmunk said, is great and appeals to all ages. My parents and aunt & uncle did the riverboat cruise/dinner, which also included a show, and they enjoyed that. And all of us went to the "Jesus" show at the Sight & Sound Theater, which offers extravagant productions of bible stories/characters. It was an amazing production - worth checking out. Hope y'all have a fantastic time!

  • Chipmunk

BTW - there did used to be one or two putt putt courses in Branson, but that was years ago when we did that with nieces before our own kids. I don't know if SDC still has the option to buy a ticket after a certain time and then you can go the next day as well. - Theme Park | Silver Dollar City Attractions - I know they are always closed on Monday but I am not sure what their days and hours are during the springtime.  There are wineries - Branson Wineries | Explore Branson  also - The Butterfly Palace  - Branson's Zipline and Snowflex Tube Park | Branson Zipline at Wolfe... - and The Shepherd of the Hills | Official Site | Branson, Missouri

  • Northwoodsmom

B'sNukeMoM, we went to Branson for my parents 60th wedding anniversary.  We had a dinner and show on the Branson Belle Show Boat, loved it.  Did the Shepherd on the Hill outside theater. Saw a show at Presley's Country Jubilee. The Site and Sound indoor Theater Show was fabulous, we saw Jonah and the whale live theater. Did a little shopping at Apple tree Mall.  We had such a spectacular time with our parents, a memory that will last forever. You will find loads of things to do. Enjoy!

  • Northwoodsmom

joe-mom, so sorry about your son's delay. Mine changed groups 3 times while in SC, he made new friends, their resilient. Prayers for a great outcome for him!

  • joe-mom

NWM - Thanks for the encouragement. He's pretty outgoing, so I hope he manages to find a handful of buddies in his new group. He's still talking about renting a house during Prototype with some of his A-school friends, so some of those friendships will hopefully continue. Best to your son!
