AZ_RACCOON - B had leave when he graduated A school. We went for the graduation, spent a couple days with him after and then he and some friends went to Florida for a bit. I think it will just depend on how quickly they have enough to start a class. Your daughter should have that info available to her from her SLPO.
AZ_RACCOON - Yes, they do get leave, but for my son, it wasn't immediately after. They have A school graduations each week, and when they have enough classes ready, all of them go to Power School together. That waiting time is called T-track.
For my son, his was the first class to graduate after the Power School group started, so they didn't get to take leave immediately. All of the other A school classes got time off immediately after graduation, but his leave was about 10 weeks after graduation (just before Power School started).
this comment section is a little hard for me to follow. I guess I'm a bit old school, but I am really wanting to know how to follow the discussion part.
There don’t seem to be a lot of posts other than the very informative and/or inspirational posts in the form of photos by B’sNukeMom. Unlike a typed comment, you can’t see/read it in the email notification you get - you must log in.
That being said, if you log in from your mobile device, it is hard to navigate. To make it easier, go the dropdown at the top right of the screen (after you sign in), and click on DESKTOP VIEW. much easier to view the comments thread. Hope that helps!
NavyMomThrower - Are you able to see DsMom2020 and Seahawks12 respond to your question? Sometimes I have to sign back in when I have not been on for a few weeks. I still feel like I am new to all of this. It's been a year since my son entered bootcamp and now he just started PowerSchool in GC. We are here to help!!
NavyMomThrower - I'm sorry but I didn't see your comment until now. It's been a busy week :-) Personally, I don't post a lot here any more because my son is in the fleet, and there's not much to say. But I do login some to see if there are questions I can help with about Nuke School.
I hope you'll reach out if you have questions or need encouragement! <3
Please be sure to read the ***NEW MEMBERS*** info at the top of the page. Lots of good info there. Also take a look at the Pages (21) to the right under the member profiles - be sure to hit "view all". And the discussion forum above has some good info too - be sure to read Chipmunks "Nuke A School Daily Schedule". And of course, feel free to ask any questions you may have.
Thank you!! Working my way around the site. Great info available! My son is headed to BS post August 1 graduation. We are trying to gather any housing information we can as their housing brief has been cancelled twice. Info is much readily available if he were staying in GC. Trying to find the same for BS. Any guidance is appreciated!
Momof1 - B lived in the "Winners Circle" in Saratoga Springs. Lots of Navy people lived there. Nice places. I bumped the discussion up above for prototype housing. Take a look at that.
Momof1 - my son was in GC for Prototype, hopefully B'sNukeMom's info will be helpful. He will need to be able to deal with getting electricity and other utilites set up for his apartment and for my son that was a challenge as he did not have a credit card for them to be able to do a credit check on him as I recall.
I am not sure how the NFCU credit card works differently than most, but my son claims that he is able to "pay ahead" on his card, so he only uses it for major purchases and then he pays on his card, so that he never has to worry about a late payment, but also is using it more like a debit card than purchasing something which he later has to go back and pay for. - If that makes any sense at all.
Anyway, my point, my son never thought he wanted a credit card, he had never purchased his own vehicle at that point, he had been given a car by a family member. So, he applied for the NFCU credit card, mostly so that he could have some sort of credit score for getting the electricity set up.
His roommates all shared various expenses, but that also became an issue when they did not all leave at the same time after Prototype graduation.
