If anybody here has any pictures from Friday the 16th A school graduation at Corry let me know please.

  • Craig

CRF - I know my son couldn't take any pics since it was inside the compound.  However, he was able to pin my nephews crow on....  Woo-hoo!

  • CRF230dad

Craig - I guess it was held in the chapel but only a few family members were there so I'm hoping. I saw one group pic my son was tagged in one photo on facebook. Maybe your nephew is in it also.

  • Craig

CRF - I was totally confused what you were saying before. I thought you said your son was getting advanced.  The advancements are in the compound, and they excort the families into the compound (ie no camera's allowed).  However, the graduations are at the chapel.  Anyone can bring camera's.  So they were both on the same base, both the same rating, but one was in the chapel, one was in building 1099.

    It all makes sense now.

  • Craig

Man, I found this funny...  This guy has been a thorn in the U.S. world's side for a long time....  good riddance.

  • rorysmom(Ship13Div244)

CTT left today for a quick 5-day at sea. At least he will be back to his wife for their 1st Christmas together as husband and wife. He did accept position as an honor guard for his ship. He seems excited. When on deployment early next year he said they will be doing 11 burials at sea. He seems very proud.
  • salpetty

    Craig...you really are funny!

  • salpetty

Dee...I'll hug mine for you :)  I'm sure this will be a hard holiday for them (and you).  Now just imagine how special the next homecoming will be!  Merry Christmas to you..

  • calliecl

My son's orders came through for San Diego! I think I have seen comments on shipping personal vehicles but just want to confirm.  If we buy our son a car in NJ (his original home) will the navy pay to ship from NJ to CA?  He finished A school at Corry and this would be his first permanent station move.

  • NavyMom4J

Congratulations- my son is in San Diego too- maybe they can find eachother!

  • Oceans3

I have a question for all of you, my child is in boot camp right now but she is set to go to Monterey for her Aschool for CTI training.  How long are they in Aschool?  Do they get breaks?  I know she has to go straight to Aschool after PIR so I am just wondering when she will ever come home again.  Thanks

  • navymom3

Oceans3-They normally will get leave between A school and there duty station. Unless they have c school. Then it could be between c school and duty station. Unless there is a ling wait between schools. I do not know how long CTI school is. If you go to the top of this page there is a link to a CTI group.

  • emilyann

My husband is cross rating from STG to CTR at Corry Station. He graduates January 13, and we still don't have orders. One guy in his class has orders so far. I'm kinda freaking out! It's coming close!

  • Craig

Oceans -  We talk about all the CT rating here, but if you want info only for the CTI clan, use this link.  They are really awesome people.

Do orders come in for the whole class, or individually? And does it matter any if he's a fleet returnee? I'm just worried as to why we still don't have orders.

  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

I could be wrong, but I think fleet returnees get their Orders way earlier than the newer sailors.  My son was in A school with a fleet returnee and his friend got his Orders quite a few months ago and my son (new sailor) is still awaiting his Orders.

  • CRF230dad

Word has it that there are no open billets for CTTs anywhere in the fleet right now (saturated). No orders for the foreseeable future. Could be a long hold in P-Cola. 8^(

  • cinder

Myson is Ctt also and waiting for his c school. Do they really just have them stay in Pensacola until something opens up? As Craig says it is not bad being at Correy.
  • sunshine73

    Merry Christmas everyone!

  • salpetty

Merry Christmas to all of you.  I'm sure enjoying my time with my sailor :)

  • Chimelle 3/149

CTN Son finally got his written orders and is in the checking out process at Corry. He was able to come home for a week over Christmas and now is moving on to his first duty station. We're happy for him to start his job and he's very excited! It's been a roller coaster ride the last nine months. Thank you all for the advice so far-it's been great having info.

  • navymom3

Congrats Chimelle- Where is your sailor headed?

  • NavyMom4J

Chimelle3/149  Congrats- so good to hear - my sailor 3/149  is stationed in San Diego - he is finding out how the fleet is so very different from tech school-  and now wishes he were back in Pensacola-  LOL- quite an adjustment to real Navy life in the fleet. Of course it has been hard as well since he hasn't been doing his real job since his ship is in dry dock- good luck to your sailor- always good memories of meeting your sailor after PIR.

What can anyone tell me about C school for CTR's?  How long does it last, what do they study (or what you think they study) at the different schools? How many C schools are there? Sorry for all of the questions! Thanks in advance for any info.

  • Chimelle 3/149

    He's headed to NIOC Norfolk.

NavyMon4J-I wonder if they've kept in touch? I know that several of the149/150 group have so far. One of them is in San Diego (well, at least one) and they fb often. It's neat that they end up with friends all over!

  • sunshine73

Boilermom, there are several C schools that very in length for CTRs. Craig will be able to answer this when he sees it. My sons C school depended on how quickly they passed tests (96 was minimum pass) and moved to the next lesson. A friends daughter was in C school for 3 mos in Texas.

  • Craig

boiler - All the schools have different length.  Per the schools, you need to ask him what his four numeral Naval Enlisted Classification (NEC) code is.  That will tell you exactly (unclassified) what he does.  All CT's usually start in the 9100 series, but there are others with oddball numbers.  Go to this link and search (Ctrl-F) for CTR, which will tell you everything, or you could search for 9100, and just read down.

Hi, I'm new to the group, and I guess you could say we're a CT family.  I used to be a CTT, and my husband is a CTR.  We're currently stationed in Japan with our daughter, and our son is in P-cola going to CTN "A" school.

  • sailorwifenmom

Oh, and I just read the question about CTR "C" schools.  I'm not sure how many there are, but I know that over the yrs, my husband has been to 5 "C" schools over the years, the last one before we came here.  It's one of those things, we joke that he's almost had a C school each time we've transferred lol.

  • navymom3

Welcome sailorwifenmom, My middle sailor is a CTM and is getting ready to head to Japan next week. Your info on the Japan site was great. My older sailor is thinking if he has to change rates in 3 years he might go to a CT rate. He is currently an ATI.

  • navymom3

Ok today is the last day to help out Mollys Adopt a sailor program get a 5K grant from Pepsi. All votes have to be by midnight est tonight. You can go to this link and vote http://pep.si/v0wdFc

Plus you can text in a vote by texting 110201 to 73774. We are currently at 22 and need to be at 20. Please help us reach our goal. It only takes a few minutes to do. Your sailors ship may be the next one to get boxes from Molly's.

  • sunshine73

Son is finally on the way to Hawaii :) and :(  He was thrilled that they moved him to 1st class. The TSA wouldn't let us through this morning due to the flight boarding in only 30 minutes.  I think he felt bad and moved our son to the front of the security line.

  • emilyann

We got our orders today! He got shore duty at Buckley Afb in Denver! My husband has to go to C School in Texas until April 29, and our NLT date is May 29. Am I able to move now, or do I have to wait?

  • sailorwifenmom

    navymom3,

Thanks :-)  We have several friends who are M branchers or who were, but cross rated a few yrs ago when they thought they were going to merge the rate.  They really like it.  If your oldest has to cross rate, CT is the way to go :-)  (but I admit, I'm a bit biased lol)

  • boilermom

Anyone have a kid in Misawa, Japan? My sailor will be in Texas then shore duty. Any info will be appreciated, thanks for the info on C schools!
  • Craig

Woo-hoo...  Going to the Broncos game today with my son...  Go Broncos...

  • Debbie G.

My son is due to start A School for CTN.  He's "heard" that the only harder program is for Seals so he's a little nervous.  Any input/ opinions?  I told him that they wouldn't have put him there if they didn't think he was capable, but he's still worried!

  • momoffour(Ship 11 div 119)

Just tell him to not get behind and know that he will be studying all the time. It is very demanding but your are right, he is there because they think he can do it. Tell him to participate in study groups which seems to help. best of luck to your son! It can be a long six months but worth it in the end.

  • Debbie G.

He graduated from college 12/10, so he's used to doing the work, study skills, etc.  I think he'll be fine, it's just the "unknown" and getting back into the habit of school after a year.  Thanks!

  • sailorwifenmom

    Boilermom,

Hi!  I have a kid in Misawa -- our daughter - she's a Senior in high school and lives with my husband and I ;-)   Seriously, we are stationed at Misawa, my husband is a CTR (our son is in Pensacola getting ready to start CTN school).

We've been here about 2 1/2 yrs and are here until next summer.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask away.  I'll try my best to answer them :-)

  • Joy

Our CTT son leaves Hawaii on Thursday and is heading to Denver for more schooling. He is going to look you up, Craig!  Hopefully he will have more info about a rental car and lodging today!  We are heading to Denver on the 13th to take all his snowboarding gear and some warm clothing!  Quite a change from Hawaii!!!

  • Craig

    Joy (and others),

The military Morale, Welfare, & Recreation (MWR) is hooked up with RCI time shares and they allow military members to rent unsold timeshares for $369 per week.  It's an awesome deal.

I just checked to and they have rooms available for Steamboat and Winter Park.   Being a ski resort, this would be a great place for him to use his snowboard, plus it gives you a great place to hang out.  All that is needed to use them is him having a military ID (CAC) card.  He doesn't even need to be there, he can just "gift" you the rights to use it.  Go look at www.AFVCLUB.com  Just make sure you only look at  "Space Available" section only. Some of those other sections have them at $1500 per week.    $369 is really cheap for a hotel in a ski resort area.  I have used them about 5 times and never had any problems plus some of the money feeds back into helping the sailors Morale and Recreation Fund (MWR). Just a thought....

  • Craig

Please give prayers to the CTT's (and all the other sailors) on the USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) and their battle force.  They have a really tough road ahead and will be out to sea for a while.

TheStennis is the carrier that had the basketball game and is stationed in San Diego.
  • salpetty

I believe that was the Carl Vinson.  One of my previous COs was lucky enough to be there for that game...totally cool.
