I see that your husband is Ship 11, Div 12. So is my son. His career field is a CM with the Seabees and he will go straight to A school in California.
  • Travis' Mom Cindy Ship11/Div212

His name is Travis. He went to college for a while, accumulated about 35 hours. He has an 11 month old little girl and he just felt like he would do better by her if he joined the military and continued college later. That and small town West Texas has very little to offer these days and in this economy. BTW, one of my favorite places is San Antonio. Lots of fun!
  • Travis' Mom Cindy Ship11/Div212

(College hours) We thgouht so. But 1/2 of them were a local college and half were University of Phoenix Online courses. They wouldn't allow him to count the online courses.

No, the grand-daughter doesn't live with me but she lives here in town. TC asked me in that 3 line comment section of the form letter to be sure and show her pictures of him. Broke my heart but I know he is also doing this for her. That makes me proud!

    Josh'sWife,
I'm so sorry you're having a rough day today. That really is tough to see other people get letters and wonder where yours is. My friend Laurie didn't get one for 3 weeks - never did figure out what that was about, except that all the delayed letters were from New Yorkers. Well, that doesn't make any sense! My kid is in the same div and had no problems.

Since you don't know what the holdup is, it's hard to be reasonable. But please, for you own sake and for the kids, try to not Awfulize. If he was hurt or sick, you'd have heard about it. But the not knowing is hard to take. Maybe you were more tense and upset than you knew, and you just needed to cry today.

Please let us know when a letter arrives, because it will. Hang in there, Sweetie.

A weekend of doing nothing is just what you need! Hang in there...we all know how hard it is. You are doing a fantastic job...caring for those precious little children too. Take some "me" time so that you can share yourself again with your children...we moms have to remember to refuel ourselves! Sleep well!
  • AnnD [Ship 7, Div 198]

I'm well into my 4th week without my son, and I still get weepy at unexpected times. I can imagine that it's that much harder to be missing your husband, especially if he was really involved in helping with parenting!
Hang in there, and log onto N4M whenever you need a pick-me-up. Have a good weekend.

Thank you so very much for that information. That helps me so much.. I will do just that. I hope you here from your husband soon. Being a single mom is hard when you are use to having his loving hand beside you up to this point. I hope and pray a letter comes for you on Saturday.. What a great gift for your heart, just before Mothers Day!!!

joshswife ~ Thanks. I also heard that he could buy a card on base, but that the time it takes to stand in line to purchase one is taken away from his actual talk time. So I'm hoping that by sending him one, I'll save him 10 minutes of talk time.! :)
  • Joyce - NavyMom Oceana

Wow, thank you joshswife, I clicked on the link and just purchased one so if he is able to call, i will have the information to give to him. If he doesn't call, I can mail it on Monday. Thanks, I feel so much better. Just praying that he calls. 3 weeks is a long time not to talk.
