My name is Whitney, I am 22, and I have been married for about a year and half and my husband is now in the Navy. Roy (my husband) is my everything and I am so proud of his decision to join the Navy to better not only his future but mine and ours. We have three dogs that keep me busy in his absence. I am thankful for a loving and supportive family, but most importantly my God that will get me through this new chapter in my life as I cope with life without Roy there 24/7 and as I grow stronger to become an independent and strong Navy wife. I am proud of my submariner!

Hey, yeah I hope we can find other wives to join us lol. I have been on this site but really haven't been talking to anyone. I have been just reading and printing out information about so many things. Yes I can't wait to get his letter too. The for real letter. I write him every day and I sent them all out yesterday. The envelope was kinda thick so I hope that won't cause any problems. Yes we talked about how we knew it would be hard too but you are totally right this is wayyyyyy harder than I expected. We have a 6 year old so I am trying to keep it together for her too. The last 3 nights she has went to sleep crying for him. This will be our life for a bit I just hope that she will understand it more as time passes cuz it's breaking my heart. We are dealing though. It's just a day by day struggle. Yes my day is going very well. Hope yours is the same. :-)
He is going to SC for A-school. Where is yours going? You take care too!
Hey Whitney.. Things are okay.. Today wasn't one of my best days but its okay becasue I have you ladies who are always there to help one another get through this process. How are you? Hows your day goin? Did you recieve any letters yet? Im still waiting patiently, hopefully we will get smethign today or before the week is over....
hey girl! I'm still not sure of his PIR date. He is in DIV 152 and it hasnt been listed yet my guess would be May 6th, or possibly April 29. What about you? when did your husband leave?
Yeah she is hanging in there, but yes she will be soooo excited to see him at grad! 21 hours wow that's just right around the corner lol. I hope to meet some good women to help keep my mind from exploding lol. I like talking to other wives too because it's like you said we are going threw the same thing. Do you know if you are able to go with him or are you guys still waiting on the info for that? I didn't get a letter today but I really hope to soon....tomor soon :-) You have a good evening too!!
Yea.. your absolutely right but I hope we both get a letter soon. Finger crossed for tomorrow. I'll let you know if i get one tomorrow but if you ever need to talk, you can contact me on here or on facebook. I'm here for you girl because I know that all the support really helps.. :-)
Hey Whitney,
I'm okay. I still haven't received a letter yet but no one has received one yet from his division. I hope to get one next week because I've been really sad lately. I just want this 3rd week to fly by so we can be in week 4 & be halfway finished with this. But how are you holding up?
Hi! I have been doing ok, how have you been? Awesome....I got my papers, too. I have to find a place that does it around me because I called one place and they said they didn't know if they did the spouse so I left the lady in charge a mess and she is supposed to call me back tomor. I hope she does so I can go and get it soon. How did it go when you went to get yours? Any tips I should know about? I'm so glad you have insurance now! It's a big nerve racking when you don't have any. No I didn't get any letter yet :-( I was hoping that I would have gotten one yesterday but no I'm just going to cross my fingers for tomor. That's good that at least you are able to know what is going on with him. Yeah he was prob down because he misses you and he is in a new place, but like you said you expected it so it didn't make you feel sad while reading it like it was new news, ya know what I mean. For A school I am pretty positive that my daughter and I are coming with him because it exceeds the amount of time aloud for families to move with them. Lol I mean I hope so cuz that's what we are planning for. I wonder if he can get any info for you now while he is there. It's so crazy all this new stuff! What a whole bunch of info we have to process! Crazy I tell ya! We are doing as well as we can. My daughter keeps asking about him everyday a lot during the day. So it's a bit hard for her. And it seems these weekends are making things seem longer. It's prob b/c we are so busy during the week that it makes it go by faster. I hope you are doing well!!!!
Hello MirrorMaiden88! How are you?
Yay, our PIR dates are the same :) Hey, maybe we might bump into each other at graduation :)
Did you receive anything in the mail yet?
I also received my first letter last week (I literally jumped up and down) haha!
I've been okay, just trying to keep myself VERY busy, but he's always on my mind no matter how hard I try, I'am just excited I'm going to see him at graduation :)
yea, same here, i just try and stay positive even though it kills me inside. its hard to put on that smile, but you, me and the rest of the women and men in this situation will get through it slowly but surely. i know the day you see him again it'll be an unforgettable day for both.
Girl I totally agree! It's all about good days and bad days for me. I think the weekends are still the worse. They go by the slowest and I can do nothing but think of him! Just try to stay positive :) That's a great motto to live by by the way! I feel wayyy stronger now than I did three weeks ago thats for sure. We can do this girl! I just keep picturing him in his uniform on April 22, and instant smile to my face :)
He got there on the 23rd. Darn I hope nothing is going with our account. I'm trying to figure out if anyone else from his ship & div has received a check yet.
Ya wish me luck with this check business lol. Yes I got my letter thanks!!!!! Now I just can't wait for this to be ova ;-) I hope you are having a good day!!!!
Hi!...yes my son graduated BESS on friday. He is home for 7 days and i couldnt be happier..:)) The first time in 4 months! I will try to answer anything you may want to know,,,the Aschool groups are NOTHING like the BC groups on here. Jessica and dianne have us so spoiled....haha They roam around on here answering every question, but its pretty much every man for himself when it comes to Aschool...i try to pay forward everything i find out, its a confusing time for all involved....so i hope i can help..ttyl--JAN
YES!!! he can have his cell phone. If he is a saturday departure from BC, you can give it to him at the airport if you are going to sit with him until his flight arrives,. If not...you can mail it to him as soon as he gives you an address (which may be a week or so after he arrives there). You can also send him some lounging clothes (sweats, tshirts, sorts, slippers, etc...) to wear while he is in his dorm room. I sent my son a few pairs of Adidas running pants, they are able to wear regular clothes after a short while when the go to eat and stuff. He can also have a laptop, ipod, x-box, etc..Picture a college dorm room and think of things he may want to have with him. I know moms who have even mailed them their favorite blankets..lol He is allowed photos, but i wouldnt send them in frames, as space is limited. He will let you know when to send his jeans, hoodies, shoes, etc. He will give you two addresses. One for shipping and sending things thru the PO, and the other for shipping and sending things via UPS/FedEx/DHL. I usually ship thru the PO. You can send as many care packages as you wish. I have a friend who's Sailor texted her and said.."you know you can send food, right?"....lol! That was soo cute...the more you send..the less they have to buy. I mailed my son deodorant, his favorite soap, his brand of toothpaste, nail clippers, q-tips, etcc...but i purchased all travel sizes as to not take up too much space. He and his roommates will probably go shopping and split the cost of whatever they need for their room, but they still love care packages...lol...i dont think that ever gets old to them...:))) I hope this helps a little. and any more questions..just hit me up..lol! They have a liberty system there, and if you need help with that...just ask..ttyl--JAN
Hi...its funny you ask me this because i just went thru this yesterday with my son...lol He had to catch his flight at Pittsburgh airport to head back to Aschool last night. We went to the ticket counter (where you would get the boarding passes) and after they were done with my son, i just asked if we were allowed to get some gate passes to sit with him while he waits for his flight. They didnt even hesitate. Also,, he was moved to the front of the line when they saw his uniform...they were really nice.
If you know which airport and time he is to be there, just arrive there at the same time. They prefer that he is there when you are, but ive heard that its not totally necessary. They will give you a gate pass (similar looking to his boarding pass, and you will need to got thru security and thats it...you can walk with him to his gate and wait with him for as long as it takes. Also...i think there is a USO office inside of each of the airports up there, so you can also just go in and ask where the office is, and they will accomodate you. Make sure you have photo ID.
I just want to add to my comment below, i know that its confusing. Your sailor will have all of the airport info (flight, time, gate, etc..) When you go to the airport, he will know what to do. If not, just ask anyone at one of the ticket counters, and they will direct you..:))
