I have 3 sons, 1 grandson... I was raised at the home of the Naval Academy... foster dad was in the Navy and still consults for them.I am a retired teacher who home-schooled all of my sons.
I am here to support my
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?

When I heard “Navy,” I...
Was proud and encouraged it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
You are very neat when you get finished with your time in the navy. There is a lot of hurry up and wait going on.
Thanks txsailorsam, it's nice to talk to someone who's local. My daughter has lived in Baltimore, MD for several years with her dad. She is leaving for GL from there on Monday. I wish I could see her off. Don't know if her dad will be there for her. Kinda hard.
What rate is your son? Looking forward to hearing from you.
Wow, what a coincidence. I lived in Annapolis,MD for 10 years-'88-'98. My daughter was born there. my ex-husband was an Academy grad...met him as a Navy nurse;however we lived there as civilians. He worked at ARINC, while I worked at AAMC in the ER. Moved back home after divorce. Grew up in Kingwood from the '70's..
I love Annapolis. Visit there frequently to visit daughter and my best friends. Don't miss the winters...LOL,
My husband and I are empty nesters too. Katy is my youngest, my son(25) has his own house off 1960.
sleep well
Hey, if you can come Saturday - bring the grandson! He'll be fine. Colleen is coming and several other moms. We are just in a room at the library - so he can just walk around and play.
I'll be praying for Sam and his ship tonight!
I didn't know you had a doxie! We have four dogs, and one of our little girls looks just like that. She was very sick yesterday; almost passed away, actually, but we got her to the emergency vet in time, and she's doing better today.
Hey! On the proof of insurance for the rental car, you need to show the rental agreement for the car. If you declined the insurance coverage with the rental car, be sure you have your personal insurance card with you too. -Dianne
I have had so little sleep the past two days, I thought tonight was Sunday! But ... err ... I was still planning to go to church in the morning, so I have no idea what I was thinking! Time to get some sleep, maybe? Will be keeping ALL your boys in prayer.
Our doxie mix (only two years old) has hypothyroidism AND Addison's disease, and it was an Addisonian crisis that she had yesterday (no detectable BP and very low blood glucose). She's doing well today. Her sister takes meds for seaizures -- when their problems are under control you would never know they had such serious problems, but ugh, the medical costs!
I am so excited for you and Sam that I've been checking your PIR group to see if there's any news. MY hands are sweating -- what will I be like for my own son? :)
CONGRATULATIONS! I just saw the news on your PIR group. Funny, I was reading a book today, and there was a paper holding my page, when I pulled it out, it had your name and cell number from that day I called. I almost called to check in, but I'm glad I didn't because I think that was right when you were getting your I'm a SAILOR call!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! I've been thinking about YOU and him all weekend!
I knew battlestations should be soon. Did you see any pictures of him from last weekend? Is he still walking around making sure no one faints? (I forget what that was called).
Believe it or not, we were just about to step out the door to take Jake to the recruiters' office for his trip up to MEPs, and the recruiter had a family emergency and has to reschedule! Jake may have a stroke yet, poor guy.
I did ask my husband -- how does one know when to perserve and when to say "I can take a hint?" It could also be a pacing issue -- that the rigt job will be open tomorrow.
Hey Donna, so sorry I didn't even know this comment wall was on my page til JessicaB pointed it out on our PIR group wall...guess a lot of new people did not know...I wasn't ignoring ya and couldn't have mrt up with you Monday because I usu work late on Monday. Anyway, have a great time with Sam. Things will get better in TX. Didn't know your pics were here either. Love your weiner dog!!! Paula
Hello txsailorsam! So good to hear from you. I'm doing great, just trying to catch up. I am event coordinator for a retirement living community, so always something going on, plus my husband and I have an 8 yr old daughter and 11 yr son AND I keep getting those looks from my hubby--"you on that site again? I thought this was over...", so laying low for a bit. That's my sob story!
Now, it was so wonderful to get to meet you and your family and and sit with you--it was killing me and YOU I know that you couldn't see Sam from where we were sitting. If I had it to do over, I would have sat at the very bottom or end so we could have walked around and taken more pics and probably gotten to vist with our sailors. I will try to post some pics here later. I love all your pics--wasn't it great to sit at the airport with our sailors? Tired and sad, but would do it all over again. Take care and stay in touch!
Yes, on facebook--Lori Hogue and email is lorihogue@yahoo.com--comes to my blackberry too.
Happy for you that you got to spend quality time with your Sailor. What is his "title" (can't think of right term) My sailor is EM--he's at Nuke school in Goose Creek--classed up just this week.
Hi Donna! Thanks so much for letting me know about Cheddar's on Saturday. I have class on Saturdays but keep me posted on future gatherings and I would love to join!
Weatherford is about 30 miles west of Fort Worth. A small town when we moved here but is growing every day. Lots of construction because of two new shopping centers along Interstate 20. Most of the construction is widening of roads to accommodate all the traffic. Plus they are making on and off ramps longer and wider. It has been a mess for about 2-3 years but should be done sometime in early 2011. Just up the street they are building a new bridge over the railroad tracks and that road is down to 1 lane in each direction. Should be finished by late 2011. I like small town life but may have to find another small town to move to if this one gets any bigger. Have a great evening.
What are you doing in my "neck of the woods" and NOT calling me? haha - I wasn't home - I was on the way from Conroe with my sister getting her granddaughter for the holidays!
I am just not sure right now, every time we talk, he is with a friend, so our conversations are short. I'm putting an Easter basket together for him now. I'll have to let you know when I find out about the details. Florida is closer to Texas, are you happy about your sailor's assignment?
Hi Donna, for some reason I cant respond on the private section of N4M but if you like to email me its redskinmama22@yahoo.com I usually check my email on a daily basis. My stepsons Dad is a diehard Dallas Cowboy Fan and Yes Im a Redskin Fan LOL.I was just thinking deployment is going to be as bad as BootCamp not hearing much from them but worst because they can sometimes go out for 6 or 7 months.Im guessing this is his first deployment. Are you close to where that Sailor Sean lives in Pittsburg TX.Im so heartbroken over this loss. Love to keep in touch,Maria
Thanks for the info! Glad to hear your son is doing well. She is an undes. and only 19. Just a little on edge about first deployment! But I guess all first time moms are! I will just continue to pray for her and her fellow shipmates!
Good Morning Donna! My daughter is in Fl now on hold will be meeting Carney soon. How is your son? does he like it? Just getting nervous! Have a nice day thanks Kelly
My sailor is on his first cruise and is an undes right now. It's supposed to be a short one, but, gosh, the worry has started up all over again. Falling overboard, getting injured. He is the only grandchild. My husband and I raised him, and he is almost 21.
Nice to hear from you! I was just thinking of your son today; I hope he is doing well on his deployment. My son will be able to come home soon for a short leave, then he will be going on his first deployment as well.
I will give you a call one day, when I think of it before midnight!
