I did get a reply from my son.  He said he would avoid South Everett and places near the Everett Mall.  They chose North Everett because they liked the older homes - some are to buy and some are to rent.  They also like it because it is close to the base - he likes to walk or bike when he can.  But most of the time he has been there the ship has been in for repairs in Seattle.  He didn't know if your son  had a family or not - but said some families like Lynwood, Mill Creek, Marysville, Arlington and Lake Stevens.  Those must be suburbs.  It will help when he gets his car.  Is it being shipped?   They have a cute little house a couple of years ago.   How long has your son been in?  Where is he staying now, on base?  My son stayed in a rooming house until he found the house they bought and his wife joined him.  Hope he can find a good roomate situation - that helps with costs.  Let me know if you have other questions.

Hi Debbie B., Thanks for that good information.  My sailor has been in since 2010. He said he had heard that Lake Stevens seemed nice.  He is car shopping, since his motorcycle is being shipped from Hawaii and it rains so much out there. When I ask if he has any idea where his things are now, he dryly replies, "in transit".  I don't care how Navy strong you are, it must be hard to not know any one or have any of your familiar things near you. Staying back on the ship is no picnic once you are used to living off base. It's like living at your work. I guess that is part of why they are "our hero's".
