Thank you so much for the welcome, and I also appreciate the calling cards you have already sent to my sons division. I am so overwhelmed with all this information that I'm sure ill have many questions for you. Thanks so much.
Ronny I received the calling card vouchers in my e-mail. But I am a little confused they are not showing any pin numbers on them. Do they just call the 800 number with out the pin ?
Ronny, I had to change my user name, but all is well. Party for my son was a big success. It was nice to see all the friends and family that make up his support group. He leaves tonight for the hotel and will be sworn in tomorrow morning.
Thank you Ronny for your help and information, actually my son has been in Japan for over a year now. Im glued to the tube these days and would like to connect with other parents of sailors aboard the USS GW.
Thank you for the welcome note, that was very kind of you. My daughter leaves for boot camp next week and I am a nervous yet excited for her journey. I learned so much just within a small time of discovering the website and couldn't be more grateful to have found "useful & relatable" information. Thanks again!
Thanks so much, that would have been so nice, my boyfriend went through so many of those while in bootcamp. But he's finished with both boot camp now, and also with A school. He's in Greece now :/
Thanks Ronny. We should know in the next week or so if my son gets his waiver. My husband is retired Navy, so would love to see our son also join the Navy. We are all so excited about his decision to join. Great to know you are here to help. Thanks again. Hope to be able to continued our adventure on N4M.
Thank you for the welcome note. I received his box this weekend and he wrote a note there and I received the letter yesterday all the information regarding his graduation day and where I can mail all the letters that I been writting since he left, now I feel a little better.
Can you recommend a phone card that I should buy and send him. Thanks again...
Thank you for the nice message. I think it is wonderful to give us new folks the value of your knowledge and words of wisdom. Thank you, it makes a difficult time, so much easier.
Thank you. I would like to consider the pictures. What a wonderful idea and thank you for your volunteer work. I am second generation Navy and thus my son is third generation. I am very proud of the sacrifices my family has made for our country, since 1625! Three branches of my family can be traced to that time. I also have an immigrant from Denmark in sthe late 19th century. I see a military uniform and I think of the last four hundred years of all the people whom have forged our country to what it is today. Encompassing almost all nationalities and military branches, out family is so proud to have another family member join the ranks of our US Navy! Joseph will graduate basic training in April and we are looking forward to seeing the Navy base in Chicago for the first time. Any 'must see' sites you can think of?
Very cool! Thank you! They told us he can not leave the base if he is to ship out the day of graduation, so I hope he can ship out the next day so we can do as you suggested and perhaps grab a chicago pizza! I appreciate the train suggestion too! We will give it a try. He goes to his A school immediately. We are hoping they will give him leave for the holiday, but if not, then just after he graduates from A school. I never got to see the base at Long Beach - before it was decommissioned ? Or sold off. I was at NWC China Lake, Whidbey Island, Miramar, and Barbers Point during 1980-1991 - oh and Point Mugu! Thanks again.
lol....well I can look for your name tag...if you wear one. =)
I got a letter last week that said he was in "hell week" At what point would he know if his PIR got delayed? Not that I think it would be...cuz I believe he will pass with flying colors, but he told me to wait to make my reservations...and I didnt. =) I can change them if need be, but I was just wondering when we will Know for sure. I am so looking forward to seeing him, can you tell?! lol Have a great day.
Thanks for the welcome. 3 generations wow! impressive. Our son is in Japan now and all this is so new to us(even including this website/forums/groups). Any advice/suggestions would be great.
Thank You Ronny for that very thoughtful note you sent me. I have to admit I am so missing my son tremendously and I never got the phone call to say he got to boot camp like I was supposed to : ( I did speak to him at the airport before he boarded the plane however. I have been through this before with my daughter who joined the Coast Guard a little less than 4 years ago but Will is the baby and I have to admit it feels so different. Thank You again and I look forward to figuring things out on this site and maybe making some new Navy Mom friends ; ) GOD BLESS Debbie
Thank you! Any and all advice is very much appreciated, especially since my son Josh is the first on either side to enter the Navy. I had an uncle and grandfather in the army. We are very proud of his decision. We do currently have some questions regarding helping our son pay off his student loans while he is in BC. Just wondering if there are forums or advice about what is acceptable/preferable regarding this type of thing. We just want him to be able to concentrate on his BC without the stress of worrying about this until he is on his own and can take over. Any advice or links would be awesome. Thank you! ~chall
Thank you soooo much for your email. I am very excited and anxious for my two children (boy & girl) to depart. My son, Damascus leaves 4/22/13 and my daughter, Tiara leaves 7/22/13. It is nice to know there is support out here. I will check out your website for the calling cards.
Hi there, thank you so much for the warm welcome....and yes I believe we've exchanged e-mails in regards to Calls for Recruits.....I'm the mom from Canada whose daughter is dating a young man leaving for bootcamp April 7th (yes, tomorrow)...We can't believe it's coming up so fast.....looks like we'll be heading to Great Lakes for his PIR in no time at all. This site is a Godsend....and thank you to everyone for their support. Best wishes and much love from Toronto! Angie
Thank you for your kind words I am having a hard time as I am sure you have had heard on may occastions, I have an amazing relationship with my son and so look forward to graduation 5/10. I so look forward to his calls and letters but he also knows my limits and knows what he can do to help and feed into my need to break away so i do know what he is doing to help the best way he knows how, and this site is helping so thank you to all of the people and supports that put this together, i am waiting for " the form letter to book the trip for gradutation" i am just wondering is this the bets bet plan or should i just book on the graduation being on the 10th?
I am having trouble on the site. I have registered. I found the word document with the calling cards but I am having trouble locating PINs for the cards.
Thank you very much, i'm having a hard time...leave date is getting closer :( dont think this will ever get easier, not used to the thought of him not being here everyday, im hoping this site will give me a little strength!
thank you so much for the kind email. Wow 3 generations of navy...the phone card, calls for recruits is awesome. I have a very hard time with having my son gone he is boot camp 4wks now. I am so proud of him, he is in the nuk program
Thank you Ronny, my daughter graduated on March 15, 2013 and then flew to San Antonio to A School where she'll be for 15 wks...I appreciate my request for membership being approved and hope to learn more about the Navy from this website as well as finding answers to any questions I'm sure I'll have in the future. If there are any groups of Mothers whose children's PIR was also March 15, 2013 or whose children are now at the A School in San Antonio, TX I'd love to join them and share stories, thoughts, etc...THANK YOU AGAIN.
Thank you. My son left yesterday and I did put a calling card in his wallet. Got the I'm here call, but still can't help thinking did he get to sleep, did he eat, stuff like that.
Ronny, My son has been in the Navy almost 9 years now. He is currently packing up from being stationed in Groton, and is now transferring to San Diego to become part of the USS Ronald Reagan family. He is a Nuclear Reactor Mechanic, currently looking to become a Chief in the near future. As we live in Pennyslvania, this is going to be a rough move. But, not as hard as when the he was on the USS George Washington when it re-ported to Yokosuka Japan.
Thank you for your email. Looking foward to being a part of this family.
I did send you his address on facebook and he said that he got one card for 60 minutes. I guess they use more minutes up when you are calling a cell phone. He said that they can buy them on base but I figured if he had got more than one from you he would be able to share them. I think it is a wonderful thing and we did make a donation to help out :-)
Hi Ronny: My brother is currently in boot camp. We miss him so much! Being part of this family makes me feel better since we did not know much about the NAVY. We are just so unsure about things, like what's going to happen after boot camp? School? I believe this will guide us through this.
Hi, I did check out the day to day at bootcamp on your website, great information. thanks. Today is only day 2 and I cannot wait to hear from him. I know it will be couple weeks hopefully it will go faster for him then it is for me.
What a great service you've provided for our SR's, now Sailor's - my son is officially a Sailor as of 4/5! He had received the calling cards and he used everyone of them except for 2 which he had shared. Thank you for everything you do!
Thank you Ronny, The service you are providing for the SR's is great. My son went out with one when he left on 3/27, his PIR date is 5/24. He will be staying there for school. We will be heading out to see him. We are from Massachusetts.
Ronnie! I will tell him your well wishes! I've donated to help with the cost of calling cards. This is a must for SR's in Boot Camp and thank you again for everything you do!
Thank you Ronny, My son doesn't leave until August 6 he was already pushed up a week he will be leaving 2 days before his 18th birthday so a little sad on that. first one for me so I appreciate all that you do I will definitely look for those calling cards.
Thanks
Sharone
Hi Ronny!
Thank you so much for the welcome and all the information, it's greatly appreciated. Much love to you for all that you're doing...Helping us stay connected with our SR.
Thanks so much! He is just doing all the prelim stuff but he really wants to join. His Dad was subs on the Billfish for 6 years, my dad was an officer in 1953-55, my brother was in in the 70s and I have 2 nephews who are officers, newly commisioned. It runs in the blood so to speak! I have a lot of mixed feelings! He is my only child too!
Thank you, Ronny. I appreciate your kind words. I come from a U.S. Navy family also with my dad serving as officer in WWII with former generations serving all the way back to American Revolutionary War. My daughter was interested in being in the U.S. Navy since a freshman in high school. She attended military prep college at Marion Military Institute - Alabama and graduate w/ her Associate's Degree in May 2012. Enlisted in U.S. Navy in June 2012 and has completed various USN "colleges" I'm not sure what the difference is between an A-College and a C-College. I saw her graduate from the Great Lakes Recruit Training Center. Quite impressive and she did very well. She is focused on U.S. Navy as career path and completing her college education. I am proud of her decision and dedication to serve the U.S. Navy as a "Force for Good".
