A little about me:
I am a mom of a 19 year old daughter who is scheduled to leave for Boot Camp on February 4th. My husband and I have mixed feelings about her joining. We feel it will be good for her and a great experience. She is very petite and just barely made it in because of her size. I am worried about her being so small. I am most worried though about her heart which right now has Jesus. But I worry that being around so many non Christians in the Navy may pull her away from God and her love for Jesus.

Barb9257,

I see you recently joined the Moms of Daughters 2 group and I want to welcome you!!  I'm glad you found us. Come join the chat in our group - there is usually someone on every day. We are a friendly, caring group of moms who have daughters in all stages of Navy life - from newbies to those whose daughters have been in for several years - from officer to enlisted!!! We support all our sailor girls and each other as well. Not just during the bootcamp days but the weeks and months following, as they go off to school, first duty station, or first deployment.  Let us support you when you're missing her, lend an ear when you need to vent, and celebrate with you when you want to brag!!  I don't think you need to be concerned about her shipmates drawing her away from her love for God.  I think there are just as many devout Christians out there in the fleet as not.  Do tell her tho that when she goes off to bootcamp she does have the right to attend church services on Sunday.  I think there are a few RDC's that want to talk the new recruits out of going so they'll spend more time on studying or preparing.  We look forward to getting to know you and your sailor!! Again, Welcome Aboard!!!!
