OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Make at least change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link) and change the Privacy Settings for this page from "Anyone" to "Members."

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Divisions 175 an176 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 (BST) together, so look for others with loved ones in either division. Write to your recruit and ask when Battle Stations-21 (BST) will be so you will know when to expect the "I'm a Sailor!" call.

Bianca. I did not get a form letter either. My son arrived to boot camp 2/5/19. His recruiter checked  computer and was able to tell me when the graduation is based on current status. I’m sure you could do the same.

By counting nine Fridays, PIR is most likely 04/12/2019 for those who shipped on 02/14/2019. It could be the week after if your recruit is held over for the next week's TG for some reason. It is possible for some who arrive on the same date to have PIR a week apart. Wait on The Form Letterwhich now arrives 9 to 14 business days after the recruit's arrival at RTC,  to know the PIR date for sure. Arrival and What Happens at RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what to expect.

What division is your recruit in? If you do not know, then join DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in FebruaryYou will meet others with loved ones who left the same week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together.

I also suggest you join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions there

Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and what to expect.

Be sure to join your PIR group once you get The Form Letter, which now arrives 9 to 14 business days after the recruit's arrival at the RTC in most cases. Let me know when you know what division your recruit is in. I will have more info for you.
