Hi CDMom...welcome 'aboard' !
I would definitely have him apply for his passport. It is a lot easier to do it before he leaves for Japan. My daugter has hers and got it before she left and has used it/needed it for travel. It's not that big of a deal to get it. You can get the forms on line and a passport pic at some post offices when you go apply or at places like CVS, etc. Even if it comes after he leaves, you can send it to him in a goodie box.
Good, I'm glad it's been easier for you all. I know it was a relief for me to be able to talk to my husband on a regular basis too :) Corpsman School is tough; they get a lot in those 12 weeks, but he'll be ready for the hospital or FMTB afterwards. Best of luck to your son!
Oh yes, the other questions. He had been in since May, but his leave date was changed to September. PIR was 11/4/11. Attends A school in FL.
You're quite welcome and thank you for the compliment. My son did get to come home for leave, just in time for Christmas. Such a good thing to see him so determined and forthright about his decision to join. Took my breath away seeing him come down to baggage claim. My co-workers (who've known him since he was a little guy) were awestruck. BEST CHRISTMAS EVER!!
We got a letter today. They have finished the gas chamber and their PFA. The countdown begins. Not sure when battlestations is hopefully we find out tomorrow. We are excited to see her for Christmas. Spent yesterday grocery shopping and today cooking and baking.
Seems like forever since we saw her can't wait, then only 2 weeks till graduation.
Hope you get some contact with your son tomorrow.
