OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

It's not a good idea to post a pic of your Sailor every time you post. See change 4 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). Also make change 3 while you are there. There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes. Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP code to one that is not easily associated with your Sailor.

I asked David if he knew a Courtney in his class, but they only know each other by last names so he wasn't sure.

He is actually home till Monday and he is going to drive up to Norfolk. He has.to pit his.truck in long term parking while he.is deployed. His orders say he haa to report April 9th does that mean that is when he will fly out to his ship? Did Courtneys orders say April 3rd? I am so confused. David will be 19 next month how old is Courtney? What is her job and where was her A school? I ask a lot of questions, lol!

We are not far from there...off Umstead Rd.  Small world!

Philip is the youngest of three boys for me.  My oldest went to Jordan High School (we used to live in South Durham) and Philip and my middle son went to Durham School of the Arts.  Michael graduated in 2008 and Philip in 2009.

Philip has been in for about 2 1/2 years.  He's an MA whichi is the same as an MP in other branches.  He's getting ready to turn 21 in May so he's still a baby or at least in my eyes. lol It's been great having him in Norfolk these last 2 years but he leaves the 1st of June for Naples, Italy for 2 years.  I'm excited for him but I sure am going to miss him!!!!

Where in Durham did you live?  How long ago has it been since you lived in Durham?
