Jane it is good to meet you. Our sons are together and it is comforting to know these 92 or so guys have things in common, Mothers that love them and are worried sick! I finally got my first letter yesterday and stayed on the phone reading it to everyone. I was screaming to my husband across the yard, from the mailbox, I GOT A LETTER! I GOT A LETTER! He was so funny talking about the shot that felt like he had been kicked by a mule. This letter told me more than he has in years LOL. I could tell he had not gotten any of the letters I sent yet(12). I am happy today.

I got my first letter today!!  I was at work and my husband texted me.  I started crying and asked him to scan and email it to me.  I couldn't even look at it.  I printed it and headed outside with some tissues.  Steven sounds good.  He said it isn't as bad as he thought it would be.  He said the food isn't bad but not as good as my home cooking (smart boy).  That was about it.  Just having some contct with him was wonderful.  Now the greedy part of me wants that phone call

Jane our sons are in the same division. It has really helped me being on here with other Moms that are going through the same thing. Hope everything is going ok for you. Today is 2 weeks since Stephen left and I am waiting for a call. I have heard it could be any day of the week and any time of the day. So afraid I might miss the call so I carry his cell phone everywhere I go. Does this get easier?

My son leaves from Pittsburgh.  It's too soon!!!!  I'm kind of a wreck.  He is spending all of his time at the firehouse (he's a volunteer fireman).  Things have been so hectic this past week that I haven't had a chance to catch up here.  I am pretty clueless about all of this.

How are you holding up?  Me?--not so well.  It kind of goes minute by minute.  One minute just fine, then the tears start.  This weekend wasn't bad--I've been finalizing plans for Steven's graduation/going away party on the 21st.

Thank you to both of you for replying! My son also depped in in March!
It is almost 3 am here in California and I think realizing that it is only 16 days until he leaves officially is finally hitting me...HARD! I have been crying my eyes out for the last couple of hours and I can't seem to stop... :.(
Has it hit you ladies yet? I was trying so hard to be strong and honestly thought I was going to be ok, then all of a sudden tonight... Ugghhhh :.(

Hello! It's so nice to finally connect with a few moms whose recruits are leaving on the same date! I've known since November(ish) and am glad to get to connect.

The waiting is just the worst isn't it?  It is bad enough letting go but we have been in countdown since March.
