My son goes to meps this Thursday and Friday July 23 an 24. What can I expect to learn from being a Navy Mom. My husband has been in the Army 32 years. Is there a big difference in the 2 branches.

Don't forget to make the changes below.
There is info in Battle Stations-21 (BST) for you.
Make at least change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link).
There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.
Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP Code to one that is not easily associated with your recruit.
Since you have a recruit at the RTC, you can change "Thinking about joining" above to "Enlisted." You can make that change on the same page when you change the ZIP Code.
Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
You will also want to join, or at least check out, Sailors attending A School in Meridian, Mississippi and Meridian Mississippi A School family&friends. You will also want to check out NAS Meridian Facebook Page and NTTC Meridian Facebook Page.
The Rating Information Card for LS can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ls.pdf. (If you get the security warning, it is safe to go there.)
Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.
Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in March. You will meet others with loved ones leaving 03/15/2016 or that week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together. Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC. I also suggest you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions there.
Your future Sailor may want to join http://www.navydep.com to learn the ins and outs from the DEP point of view.
Welcome to Navy for Mom's!
If your son gets a ship date, go to the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC. At the bottom are links for each of the months, join the one for the month that your then future Sailor ships.
