OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Jeanie it's tough on mom's, my kids would always tease me about being over sensitive, over protective but that's what mom's do. Your in boot camp too. Battling with separation, constantly worrying, longing for just one more hug. It hurts just as much as doing sit-ups and push-ups. It sucks , so I think of the great future he is going to have , that's something I couldn't give him. I remember the pride in his voice when he finally told me he made it in. I want this for him more than anything. Remember he is right where he is suppose to be and someday you we sit with him and laugh about this.

Jeans.....n, I see you have changed your Username so that it no longer contains your last name. You also need to change the URL (address) to this page. Make change 2 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link) to take care of that. (If you are using a Smart phone, you will need to switch to Desktop View to make this change.)

Also make change 3 while you are there so that this page is no longer open to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web.

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Arrival and What Happens at RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and what to expect.

Be sure to join your PIR group once you get The Form Letter, which now arrives 9 to 14 business days after the recruit's arrival at RTC in most cases. Let me know when you know what division your recruit is in. I will have more info for you.

You may want to join Moms of Daughters 2.

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info.

If you would like information on your recruit’s rating (job/occupational specialty) or field, then let me know the rating or field. There are groups for most specialties and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend.

Take care and blessings to you and yours

Welcome to Navy For Moms!!  I'm glad you are here!  I need to forward you an important welcome message from our website admins.  You need to make a few changes.  Welcome Aboard!!

NAVYforMoms Admins

Welcome to NAVYforMoms.com!

We ask that our members not use a last name in their Username - even if it differs from their Sailor's - so please head to “Settings” on the main page as soon as possible to create a new Username, then add a profile image and complete your Profile. You will also need to change the URL that is associated with your profile, as it also contains your last name.  Then - and this is important! - read these Community Guidelines and this Operations Security (OPSEC) Checklist, for the safety and privacy of all our Sailors.

Then jump right in!  Browse around the site and check out the groups and their Discussion Forums.

Join this group for boot camp moms, where you'll also find a group for your Pass in Review (graduation) date; and this one for PIR Reference Information.

Get a head start during boot camp by joining groups for, and learning about, your Sailor's occupational specialty and "A" School; and later your Sailor's duty station and/or Navy ship and homeport. You can also join groups for your own state, region or home town and interests from getting ready for deployment to care package ideas.

Please say Hi when you join a group, and feel free to ask any and all questions - everyone was new once, and there is no "dumb" question.  This site was created by the U.S. Navy just for you, and we look forward to getting to know you and your Sailor.  Welcome to the NAVY family - we're so glad you're here!!
