OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

The Navy offers opportunities that...
The time together before your child leaves is the most precious. Spend every moment together that you can. Talk about the things you always wanted to say to one another, let them know how proud you are of them. Boot Camp has only just begun for my son and its hard not being able to communicate.
Our Navy experience so far...
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

He didn't give me a name. I am will ask him in the letter I am writing tonight. My son was born in MA (Salem) and that is where my family lives. I am actually flying to Boston after PIR to spend a few days visiting my parents and my sister. All he said was "Met the kid from Connecticut (Ken-55's son) and he's in my division and one from Springfield, MA. The one from Mass, Connecticut and I all click pretty well." These are the only two SRs he mentions at all in his letter.

Hi Cathy! My son said in his letter that he had become good friends from a kid from Springfield, MA. So I am guessing that would be your son.

Cathy if you go to our PIR 02182011 site and click the view more discussions. They are listed down on the list as fun questionaires. I sent them to my son also. Just hope he fills it out and sends at least one of them back. LOL Let us know if your SR does reply.

Hi Cathy! I'm actually from Bremerton WA. Just a short ferry ride from Seattle. I love it here too but winter is cold and wet! So luckily I'm a "snowbird" and my husband and I spend the winter in Palm Desert CA. We'll be heading there next week and staying for 3 months. We'll be flying to Great Lakes from Palm Springs. Should be an experience...70-75 degrees in Palm Springs in Feb to possibly 30 degrees or so in Great Lakes. I don't care though I'd swim the Artic Ocean to see my son!! Lisa
