OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. There are now tickets issued, and there are no longer parking passes for PIR.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

Since you have a recruit at RTC, then you can change "Thinking about joining" above to “Enlisted” or “At Boot Camp now.” Either is appropriate, but if you make the change to “Enlisted” now, then you will not have to change it again.t

You will also want to edit your "A little about me:" section. If you keep it vague, then you will not have to update it often. "My youngest has joined the Navy."

If you get an error message, then look at the area/s in the error message and unclick all of the choices in the area/s and make choices closer to the question/s. Some choices may have changed since you joined.

You can make those changes when you make the changes below.

I invite you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) there. Arrival and What Happens at RTC will tell you what is happening and what to expect.

If you would like information on your recruit's rating (job/occupational specialty) or field, then let me know the rating or field. There are groups for most specialties and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend.

Take care and blessings to you and yours.

kcoult68,

I see you recently joined the Moms of Daughters 2 group and I want to welcome you!!  We are a close, friendly, supportive group of Moms and look forward to getting to know you and your sailor.  I see you are new to N4Ms and your daughter is thinking of joining?  Please feel free to jump in and join our conversations on our group page.  Now is the time you can ask any questions you may have, talk freely about your feelings, fears or concerns, or just chat about life.  We are all in different phases of our daughter’s Naval careers - from newbies to those whose daughters have been in for several years - from officer to enlisted!!! We support all our sailor girls and each other as well. Not just during the Bootcamp days but the weeks and months following, as they go off to school, first duty station, or first deployment.  Keep us posted as she takes that first enlistment oath and picks her job/specialty and gets her ship date.  Then let us support you when you're missing her, lend an ear when you need to vent, and celebrate with you when you want to brag!!  Again, Welcome Aboard!!!!!

KellyC.....r, I see you have changed your Username so that it no longer contains your full name. You also need to change the URL (address) to this page. Make change 2 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link) to take care of that. (If you are using a Smart phone, you will need to switch to Desktop View to make this change.)

Also make change 3 while you are there so that this page is no longer open to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web.

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

You may want to check out Mom's of Daughters 2.

If she will be a senior in the fall, then now is the time to be talking to the recruiter and starting the process so she will have a year in DEP to prepare.

If your daughter gets a ship date, go to the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC. At the bottom are links for each of the months, join the one for the month that your then future Sailor ships.

When you know the ship date and the rating (job/occupational specialty) or field your then future Sailor has signed for, then let me know. I will have more information for you.

You may want to check out »» Welcome to the MEPS and DEP group ««.

Welcome to NAVYforMoms.com!

We ask that our members not use a last name or email address in their Username - even if it differs from their Sailor's - so please head to “Settings” on the main page right away to set your new Username (be creative!) and add a profile image (no last names visible) to complete your Profile. Then - and this is important! - read these Community Guidelines and this Operations Security (OPSEC) Checklist, for the safety and privacy of all our Sailors.

Then jump right in!  Browse around the site and check out the groups and the information in their Discussion Forums.

Join this group for boot camp moms, where you'll also find a group for your Pass in Review (graduation) date; and this one for PIR Reference Information.

Get a head start during boot camp by joining groups for, and learning about, your Sailor's occupational specialty and "A" School; and later your Sailor's duty station and/or Navy ship and homeport. You can also join groups for your own state, region or home town and interests from getting ready for deployment to care package ideas.

Please say Hi when you join a group, and feel free to ask any and all questions - everyone was new once, and there is no "dumb" question.

This site was created by the U.S. Navy just for you.  We look forward to getting to know you and your Sailor.

Welcome to the NAVY family - we're so glad you're here!!
