The Day Has Come

We dropped our daughter off today at the hotel for MEPS tomorrow and then she ships out. I had a good cry with her but it hurt to see her pack up her room and walking away with nothing more than a book bag at 18.  I hope this gets better. Many questions about quarantine. We saw a press release posted on RTC saying they will quarantine in Wisconsin. Ft. McKoy Army base. Hoping she will be ok. Feeling so overwhelmed with emotions. See More

Master at Arms is a rating very dear to my heart since my Sailor was an MA. Join San Antonio MA's; the discussion, Break down week by week, will let you know what happens at NTTC Lackland (San Antonio).

The Rating Information Card for MA can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ma.pdf; it indicates 9 weeks, but "A" School is 7 weeks after classing up. https://www.thebalancecareers.com/navy-enlisted-rating-descriptions-qualifications-3345832 and https://www.public.navy.mil/bupers-npc/enlisted/community/security/Pages/default.aspx have some good info for you. KitaJ,

I see you recently joined the Moms of Daughters 2 group and I want to welcome you!!  We are a close, friendly, supportive group of Moms and look forward to getting to know you and your sailor.  I see you are new to N4Ms and your daughter is waiting to leave for boot camp?  Please feel free to jump in and join our conversations on our group page.  You can ask any questions you may have, talk freely about your feelings, fears or concerns, or just chat about life.  We are all in different phases of our daughter’s Naval careers - from newbies to those whose daughters have been in for several years - from officer to enlisted!!! We support all our sailor girls and each other as well. Not just during the Bootcamp days but the weeks and months following, as they go off to school, first duty station, or first deployment.  Let us support you when you're missing her, lend an ear when you need to vent, and celebrate with you when you want to brag!!  Again, Welcome Aboard!!!!!

You are welcome!! Glad to see you have joined some groups. Do keep in mind that with COVID restrictions some of the PIR info is different, so that is why we are encouraging everyone to input on BC Moms group, because we have current BC Moms there that are doing their best to help us with up to date information. Be sure to read back through the comments there and see some of BelovedbyHim's information. Also LadyBluefire - she had two go through BC already since Jan and her third is there right now.

Good Morning KitaJ - I saw your message in the main room chat. I wanted to post a note here where you would see it and could always find someone easily. I hope you saw Kmr5+1's reply to you in the main chat. - Just in case it disappears - here it is -

Hi KitaJ! My son has been gone for almost 5wks now. I miss him so much. I have 4 children still at home but it’s not the same without my Anthony! But I got his first letter from bootcamp and that made it a little better. Hang in there! - Kmr5+1

I encourage you to click on the blue highlighted letters with the link to the BC Moms group  and join us there. I know your daughter is not leaving for another week, but we are always posting information for new moms. You can just read through the comment section if you like. You will also want to join,  Moms of Daughters 2 group. They will welcome you with open arms.

Also, you daughter might want to check with her recruiter - one of our BC Moms said her daughter was to have restricted her interactions with others even 14 days prior to leaving for BC.

You can also join groups for your own state, region or home town and interests from getting ready for deployment to care package ideas!

Please say Hi when you join a group, and feel free to ask any and all questions - everyone was new once, and there is no "dumb" question.
