You have indicated that your Sailor is in "C" School for IT; you may want to check out INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN - IT, ITOF, IT-ATF, ITS, Since IT is one of the Spook ratings, the information within the Page, OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes To Your Profile), will be important for you.

Didn't want to put this comment on the main PIR comment board to freak people out, but those of us who have been on this site for several years have seen a huge number of SRs being discharged during bootcamp....for some pretty ridiculous things.  It is all a matter of budget cuts mandated from D.C....even when at duty stations, they are hitting the sailors hard.  My son's ship was/is in dry dock (for several years now).  He happened to be an early release also...and said when he was being separated, it was amazing how many from their ship were being separated.  Those who had been in the Navy for quite some time said they had never seen anything like this....the number of sailors being separated.  So, not true that you have to really screw up to be dismissed....not these days.  Prayers for all of our SRs/sailors that they can keep their Navy careers!  It is heartbreaking to see what is going on.

We never allow negative comments to be posted about the RDCs on here....in the past, when people did that, their SRs got in so much trouble that they begged their family members to please get off the site, which many of them did.  That is very sad since this site is support for those ladies.  We appreciate that you deleted it.

Wondering: are PIRs always scheduled on a Friday? My daughter doesn't leave for Great Lakes until 7/17 & PIR won't be until September but I need to give my work notice. Can anybody suggest an estimate of how many days I should request off. And is it safe to say that my daughters PIR date would be scheduled the week of 9/16? It's so hard to get time off and not having dates is not helping...

d2b2707, most PIR's are on Friday. The exception is when a federal holiday falls at the end of the week and causes it to be moved up. That happened for the 07/03/2013 PIR and PIR Thanksgiving week is always on Wednesday. Count 9 Fridays from the date of arrival to get the most likely PIR date, 09/13/2013, but then know that it could be the week before (more likely for one arriving on a Monday or Tuesday than for one arriving in the middle to the end of the week as yours will) or the week after if storms cause extra recruits to be shipped to the RTC that week. You will only know the PIR date for certain when you receive the form letter. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) for more on that. Since she will fly out to Pensacola for "A" School, you will want to arrive the Thursday before PIR and plan to leve late Saturday or on Sunday, but again you have to wait until you get the form letter to know when that will be.

Welcome to NavyforMoms.com.  My name is Ronny and my son has been in the Navy since February of 2012.  He is currently stationed in San Diego with a Helicopter Squadron.  He is an Aviation Structural Mechanic.  I hope you find all the info you are looking for here, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.  My son is 3rd Generation Navy, so I do know a little about the Navy..:)
If you have a new Sailor who is in Boot Camp, or leaving soon, visit CallsforRecruits.org and I will send you FREE Pre-Paid Phone cards for your SR to use while they are in boot camp.  I started that program when my son left for Boot Camp :)
Welcome Aboard and I wish your Sailor Fair Winds and Following Seas.
