Hello I was wondering if anyone could help me out...my husband just got his rating for AEF but it says AEF-IT...I can't find any information in this? All I find is AEF-ET. But it clearly states on his form that it is IT....does anyone know if there is info out there on this specific rating? Is it a newer rating or is this just a typo?

AEF is advanced electronics field.  IT is Information Systems Technician.

Thank you!

Here are some groups you may want to check out INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN - IT, ITOF, IT-ATF, ITS, Sailors at Corry Station holding or in school, Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!!, Corry Station IT Moms, and IT A Schoolers. The Rating Information Card can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/it.pdf.

You may also want to join Girlfriends, Fiances, and Wives of Sailors.

When will he ship to BC? Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month Before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC. There are links at the bottom for each of the DEP groups by month. I also suggest you join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and New Members Stop Here and check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions there.

Your future Sailor may want to join http://www.navydep.com to learn the ins and outs from the DEP point of view. Craig runs that and will steer him to some good links on there.

Thank you for all the great info, he doesn't ship till December 4th but he put in something saying that he could leave in June if someone is DQd from that class.

You are very welcome. I hope that it works out for him to ship sooner--although that means that something happened that prevented another from shipping when they were supposed to.

I know, they said it happens sometimes if they do something stupid right before they ship. I kind of hope he can wait till December 4th, it would just be easier on me while I am trying to finish up my degree...I am confirmed to graduate right after student teaching on December 14th!!! Just a few short days after he leaves! Right now he picks our daughter up from school during my night classes but I am pretty sure my Seminar class is at night...it might be difficult.

When I was in the Army we had it happen way more often than we probably would like to admit. Especially with young guys/gals wanting to "sow their oats" before leaving...of course they would do it the night before heading back to MEPs so they were hung over AND under aged....DQ.

Injuries can also cause a future Sailor not to ship on time--again, the future Sailor doing something stupid right before shipping.  That nearly happened to mine. He got called up to ship early twice.  The first time he was still in school and they had the last day of school down wrong for him. The second time he got called, he had just had an accident and had to be released by his doctor, so they kept his original ship date and his injuries had to be checked at MEPS before his ship date and then again on his ship date. He was sweating a delay up until he was cleared to ship on time and was sworn in.
