While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I was reading one your old posts about folding clothes and perfect creases. How did your son end up doing? He must be in A school by now.
Linda410, I see you have changed your Username; you may also want to change the URL to this page. Make change 2 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link) to take care of that. (If you are using a Smart phone, you will need to switch to Desktop View to make this change.)
Also make change 3 while you are there so that this page is no longer open to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web.
There may be other changes you need to make as well (change 4???), so read and consider each of the changes.
His division/brother division will go first. I'm betting that you will get a call from your SAILOR on Fri afternoon.
His first bunk was directly under the part of the deck where there is a huge water tank/pool for the huge metal thing that slingshots the jets off the deck. He had trouble sleeping because the loud clanking of the metal rod would alarm him out of his sleep. I was terrified that something would happen with that tank above his bed. Eventually he moved into an apt with friends in Newport News, then back onto the ship to save money. He has saved money and is about to buy a foreclosure and rent some rooms out to friends. All in all he has done well and grown as a person through all the frustrating particular stuff that they make him pay attention to. Tell your son to keep plugging along and it will help him kick it up a notch and life and become a successful man. There are so many opportunities in the Navy that he can take advantage of. He’ll do fine and it will be better after boot camp! Happy New Year and hang in there!
Send lots of cards and letters but nothing with sparkles on it because my granddaughter said oh my goodness we had to clean the floor when I opened my card. No music cards just letters. Once your son is there get connected with his division which you will find out in about three and a half weeks. Don't expect a call real soon from them and expect the first call to not be real nice because about that time they all I think would like to come home but believe me they all Stand Tall on graduation day. You will be able to get on a site called PIR which is passing review and then put in his graduation date and you will get connected with everyone that will be going to graduation the same day as you will be going. You made friends that we're still in touch with. I will also tell you a very good place to stay when you go is the Navy Lodge it's very close to base the rooms are great and they're $70 a night and you're there with everybody else that's there for graduation. Get a head start during boot camp by joining groups for, and learning about, your Sailor's occupational specialty and "A" School; and later your Sailor's duty station and/or Navy ship and homeport. You can also join groups for your own state, region or home town and interests from getting ready for deployment to care package ideas!
Please say Hi when you join a group, and feel free to ask any and all questions - everyone was new once, and there is no "dumb" question.
