My son is leaving for BC tomorrow in San Diego. I want to be prepared for all of it. It has been an emotional couple of days as all of this has finally made its way to reality. My son is 23 and left college early to pursue his passion. It's in his blood as his Great grandfather, who recently just passed away was one of the 4 last remaining Pearl Harbor survivors, as well as my father being a Korean war vet. I truly thought I would be okay, but I can't seem to stop crying. I…

Hi Lisa, my son swore in on the 18th, and he arrived at RTC at 6:15 Eastern time. I got the I'm here call at 6:30! That was pretty quick! I am now waiting for his box, of course. I agree with you, the swearing in was a truly proud moment. We got some good pictures, too. We got to sit with him while he ate his MEPS lunch, and then he was on his way! How are you doing? I'm sure you've had letters by now as you are really about a month ahead of me.
Hi Lisa,
My son leaves for MEPS on the 17th, arrives at GL on the 18th. He enlisted in July, so it was kind of easy to think that this day was never going to come! Time is going so fast right now that I don't think any of us can really believe it. He turns 21 on Monday, and ships out two weeks later! How is your son doing? I guess you've gotten letters and phone calls by now?
Don't forget to make change 3 and to edit your "About me:" section to remove your last name.
Join the group, DEP-Leavin' for Boot Camp in January. You will meet others with loved ones leaving this week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together. Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC. I also suggest you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions there. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what will soon be happening. Be sure to join your PIR group once you get the form letter.
Has Nick shipped to the RTC and when? If he has not, when does he ship?
Please edit your "About me:" section to remove your last name. Also, make change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.
Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
