OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

Happy MAMA

Well I think it’s time to give an update on my SR . I had received some letters last week. She told me she got held up in processing for a week due to needing divisions to fill up. Also in one of them she stated she missed her qualifying run by 45 seconds. They put her in a new division to help with her run. She said she was going to get a second try. That was the last thing I heard from her till TODAY.MAMA GOT A CALL.I can’t begin to explain how it felt hearing her voice again. She was crying…See More

Louisa,

Yes I do understand what you mean about writing letters.  Try not to think about what she may be doing or how she is doing it!!  Talk to her like you used to before she left for boot camp.  Write to her about what you are doing - even if it's laundry!! Tell her about any local news stories, what the weather is like, and any comics or jokes you've read.  Even look online for simple jokes, riddles or comics and write those to her.  They are starving to know what is going on in their absence and just want to hear what's going on back home.  Then you don't have to worry about jinxing anything for you.  If you believe in prayer then end each letter with a little prayer for her.  I was not religious at all when I left for boot camp but I'd say a little prayer each night thanking God for getting me through one more day and asking that he gets me through the next day!!!  Hope this helps!!!

Louisa,

I see you recently joined the Moms of Daughters 2 group and I want to welcome you!!  We are a close, friendly, supportive group of Moms and look forward to getting to know you and your sailor.  I see you are new to N4Ms and your daughter is in boot camp now?  Please feel free to jump in and join our conversations on our group page.  You can ask any questions you may have, talk freely about your feelings, fears or concerns, or just chat about life.  We are all in different phases of our daughter’s Naval careers - from newbies to those whose daughters have been in for several years - from officer to enlisted!!! We support all our sailor girls and each other as well. Not just during the Bootcamp days but the weeks and months following, as they go off to school, first duty station, or first deployment.  Let us support you when you're missing her, lend an ear when you need to vent, and celebrate with you when you want to brag!!  Again, Welcome Aboard!!!!!

Louisa J, my heart hurts for you, we've all have been where you are right now. It's going to hurt so go ahead and cry. My son left January 8, I still haven't been able to go into his room, my husband did his dirty laundry and left it on his bed, finally he gave up on me and folded it and put away. Everyone handles separation in their own way. Don't feel alone on this, nobody on this site will judge you, were all in this together. The ladies are awesome, one told me ( mom's are in boot camp too). You will get stronger. I tried to stay busy, if you find the thing about Sarge's Meet and Greet for the PIR for your daughters graduation he talks about donating a basket for a raffle. I know it's early for you but I started working on that because it was for the parents of the new Sailor I felt apart of something he was doing. My hubby works out of town also and I had every evening alone, I just saying it helped me and now graduation is only 2 weeks away. Hang in there and God bless your tender heart.
