OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A little about me:
I'm a Dallas born and raised southern bell! I'm currently working part-time at Metro PCS while attending Tarrant County College in Arlington Texas for my Criminal Justice degree!

I fell in love with a co-worker who is now focused and getting ready to ship out for the Navy on September 5th. I'm new to the Navy life and would love to have all the help I could possibly receive from the other Navy spouses, or soon to be spouses as I am engaged to my sailor :)
I am here to support my
Spouse/Significant other
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I...
Was proud and encouraged it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
As someone who first considered joining, I know the process is something that takes time. I also realized that support and encouragement is one of, if not the most, important things that we all need. As wives, families, or sailors themselves need to make it through this journey.

I also heard very recently that as a new wife to be, I should come to terms that I will be known to the recruiters, sailors and my very own that I will come second to the military. Or what they call, the mistress. I could definitely use some input and related stories about these rumors!
Our Navy experience so far...
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in September.  You will meet others with loved ones leaving that day/week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together. Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month Before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC. I also suggest you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions there. You may also want to join Girlfriends, Fiances, and Wives of Sailors.

Your future Sailor may want to join http://www.navydep.com to learn the ins and outs from the DEP point of view. Craig runs that and will steer him to some good links on there.
