A little about me:
My name is Whitney, I am 22, and I have been married for about a year and half and my husband is now in the Navy. Hi and thank you for the add :) I'm not sure when my son and I will be moving to Groton, but I'll make sure to have a meet and greet when I do.

I just want to add to my comment below, i know that its confusing. Your sailor will have all of the airport info (flight, time, gate, etc..) When you go to the airport, he will know what to do. If not, just ask anyone at one of the ticket counters, and they will direct you..:))

Hi...its funny you ask me this because i just went thru this yesterday with my son...lol He had to catch his flight at Pittsburgh airport to head back to Aschool last night. We went to the ticket counter (where you would get the boarding passes) and after they were done with my son, i just asked if we were allowed to get some gate passes to sit with him while he waits for his flight. They didnt even hesitate. Also,, he was moved to the front of the line when they saw his uniform...they were really nice.

If you know which airport and time he is to be there, just arrive there at the same time. They prefer that he is there when you are, but ive heard that its not totally necessary. They will give you a gate pass (similar looking to his boarding pass, and you will need to got thru security and thats it...you can walk with him to his gate and wait with him for as long as it takes. Also...i think there is a USO office inside of each of the airports up there, so you can also just go in and ask where the office is, and they will accomodate you. Make sure you have photo ID.

YES!!! he can have his cell phone. If he is a saturday departure from BC, you can give it to him at the airport if you are going to sit with him until his flight arrives,. If not...you can mail it to him as soon as he gives you an address (which may be a week or so after he arrives there). You can also send him some lounging clothes (sweats, tshirts, sorts, slippers, etc...) to wear while he is in his dorm room. I sent my son a few pairs of Adidas running pants, they are able to wear regular clothes after a short while when the go to eat and stuff. He can also have a laptop, ipod, x-box, etc..Picture a college dorm room and think of things he may want to have with him. I know moms who have even mailed them their favorite blankets..lol  He is allowed photos, but i wouldnt send them in frames, as space is limited. He will let you know when to send his jeans, hoodies, shoes, etc. He will give you two addresses. One for shipping and sending things thru the PO, and the other for shipping and sending things via UPS/FedEx/DHL. I usually ship thru the PO. You can send as many care packages as you wish. I have a friend who's Sailor texted her and said.."you know you can send food, right?"....lol! That was soo cute...the more you send..the less they have to buy. I mailed my son deodorant, his favorite soap, his brand of toothpaste, nail clippers, q-tips, etcc...but i purchased all travel sizes as to not take up too much space. He and his roommates will probably go shopping and split the cost of whatever they need for their room, but they still love care packages...lol...i dont think that ever gets old to them...:))) I hope this helps a little. and any more questions..just hit me up..lol! They have a liberty system there, and if you need help with that...just ask..ttyl--JAN
