My daughter went to San Antonio to Corpsman school.  They take all the sailors to the airport at 5:30 or 6:00....sometimes they have to make a couple trips.  She left out of O'Hare but was at the airport for 10+ hours waiting for her flight.  They have a great USO center at O'Hare for military personnel.  They let me leave my luggage in their storage area.  People left at all different times and in all different directions.  They end up booking all the empty seats on flights.  Most likely they will fly Southwest to San Antonio because that seems to be the cheapest carrier.  Do not think the military is organized!  They are not!  When my daughter left San Antonio, she didn't even get her flight until the morning she was coming home.  One of her classmates was handed a ticket for a flight the day before he graduated.  He was stuck in San Antonio another couple of weeks because they blamed him for missing his flight.  There was even a question of whether he would have to pay for his flight to his assignment.  The best thing I can tell you is go to Sarge's meet 'n greet.  He is full of information and extremely helpful.  If it wasn't for him, I would never have known about going to the airport early and spending the day with my daughter.  Feel free to contact me with questions.  If I can help, I will!
