Well first off it is VERY overwhelming. for the most part we are doing really well. having the kids has helped me just keep doing the next thing. I work full time so that helps too. As soon as you get your information from him at bootcamp go get your deers card. as soon as you have that you cant start taking advantage of the discounts and insurance. it is effective immediatly. also i would suggest getting a file older or using the one he got for signing up (i am sorry my son, 17 mo has pulled alot of the keys off my computer) to keep all the incoming important documents. Until I know what i am doing I reuse to throw anything away...even the directions to the place i got my military id at (which is also your deers(ins) card). I also got a cloth sack tpe thing to keep all his letters to me and my daughter (almost 6). My husband is graduating this friday. It will be the first time we have seen him since feburary 15th!! After the first 3 weeks it got ALOT easier. You will find your groove as a new single mom. Go ahead and cry with yourself and your kids, a Navy wife friend of mine said to get a daddy jar and put a quarter in it each day then when you get to see him let the kids decide a family friendly activity to do with it, also have daddy nights..eat his favorite food. whatch his avorite movie... anyway i just realized you didnt ask for any advise..so hope i didnt say too much!! anything i can do i am here!!
