OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son has been in boot camp for 2.5 weeks now and today I was surprised with a phone call! I was so surprised I actually hung up on him! He called back and we talked for 20 priceless minutes. He told me how much he missed us and included his 4 brothers in that statement. He said a letter from his 8 year old brother moved him to tears. Which made me cry. He said mail call was the best part of the day.

If nothing else......write to these kids and let them know you are here for them. Even if… Continue

I see that you have changed your Username so that it no longer contains your last name; you also need to change the URL to this page to remove it from there as well. Number 2 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link) will tell you how to fix that. There may be other changes you will want to make as well, such as the changes in numbers 3 and 4.

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC, and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Since your SR will be in the Nuclear Field, you will want to join NUKE moms and you may also want to check out Nuke School Charleston and Nuke A School FAQ. The Rating Information Card for NF can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/nukepower.pdf. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.
