Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."
Follow this link for OPSEC Guidelines:

Just checking in to say hi!!
How are you doing Sandy?
Hi Sandy - How did you do today? I just wanted to check in on you!
Sandy, You are not alone - Most all of us, this is all new to us as well. Some of us have just had a few other experiences that make it a little bit easier. Be sure to click on the blue links in the comment below here from BelovedbyHim - Welcome to the Navy. She breaks things down week by week. - Also, if you look at this screen (best viewed on a computer - this site was set up by the Navy and has not been updated to work as well with the format of mobile devices) in the upper left there are links to some of the Boot Camp videos that will share some of what they are doing.
You should receive the Form Letter - It is a typed-up letter that is informational for families about PIR and planning on attending as well as other information, in 2 - 3 weeks after she left for GL. The only thing she is supposed to write in that letter is just here name, mailing address and her expected Pass In Review/ graduation. They are not to write anything else on the letter or envelope, so if she does, I would not share it on this public site.
Welcome!! Please read my blog to give you an idea of what the first few weeks may look like.. Welcome to the Navy... Everything will be ok! The First part is some things to do before your SR leaves IF you Can, It’s NOT ESSENTIAL! Up and to the Left is a link to all the Navy Lingo! It is titled Navy Speak and you can find it here. We are here to get you through the “Great Silence” of the next 4 weeks (ish) and the 10 weeks of BC (ish). You will come to learn that No News Is GOOD News and everything is Needs of the Navy. You life will be Hurry Up and Wait and it’s ok to make plans but they are subject to change until after they have happened so it’s best to embrace the Motto: Semper Gumby!! (Always Flexible!!)
Hi Sandy, I sent you a friend request. I can send you more private messages if you will accept it. If you do so, please reply to this comment and let me know. You should get an email notification that I sent you a friend request, but I do not receive one that says you have joined.
PS - Grandmothers are just as welcome in both groups!
Sandy - I saw your picture, be sure to come join the BC Moms and Loved Ones group - Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) - Navy For Moms (ning.com) - Click on the blue letters it will take you to the group page. In the upper right corner there should be a + Join little tab to click on, I think.
The same with the Moms of Daughters 2 group that B'sNukeMom posted for you below. The BC Mom group is rather active and we answer questions and such about BC there. Be sure to scroll down most of the page until you come to the Comment Wall area on that page. And post a hello there.
The Mom of Daughters 2 is active only when someone posts something, but several of us still are around to reply. I joined once my sailor gal actually became my son's wife.
You might also like to join the Moms of Daughters 2 group. Here's the link (click on it to go to the page):
