OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. There are now tickets issued, and there are no longer parking passes for PIR.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

Since you have a Sailor, you can change "At Boot Camp now" above to “Enlisted.”

If you get an error message, then look at the area/s in the error message and unclick all of the choices in the area/s and make choices closer to the question/s. Some choices may have changed since you joined.

Divisions 325 and 326 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 (BST) together, so look for others with loved ones in either division.

There is info on Ship 14 and more in Ship/Division--How it Works

Join Mass Communication Specialist; you may also want to check out Parents whose Sailors are stationed at FT. Meade (it has not been active in some time). You will also want to check out Fort George G. Meade, Md Facebook Page.

The Rating Information Card for MC can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/mc.pdf. (If you get the security warning, it is safe to go there.) There is additional info in https://www.thebalancecareers.com/mass-communications-specialist-mc-3345834.

Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. Plan to leave late Saturday or on Sunday. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) to help you know how to plan your weekend.

I invite you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) there.Arrival and What Happens at RTC will tell you what is happening and what to expect.

If you would like information on your recruit's rating (job/occupational specialty) or field, then let me know the rating or field. There are groups for most specialties and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend.

Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Welcome to NAVYforMoms.com!

Head to “Settings” on the main page right away to add a profile image (no last names visible, please) and complete your Profile. Then - and this is important! - read these Community Guidelines and this Operations Security (OPSEC) Checklist, for the safety and privacy of all our Sailors.

Then jump right in!  Browse around the site and check out the groups and the information in their Discussion Forums.

Join this group for boot camp moms, where you'll also find a group for your Pass in Review (graduation) date; and this one for PIR Reference Information.

Get a head start during boot camp by joining groups for, and learning about, your Sailor's occupational specialty and "A" School; and later your Sailor's duty station and/or Navy ship and homeport. You can also join groups for your own state, region or home town and interests from getting ready for deployment to care package ideas!

Please say Hi when you join a group, and feel free to ask any and all questions - everyone was new once, and there is no "dumb" question.

This site was created by the U.S. Navy just for you, and we look forward to getting to know you and your Sailor.

Welcome to the NAVY family - we're so glad you're here!!
