Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Profile Information

A little about me:
I'm a mother of 2, one of which joined the Navy in April 2011. She went through MEPS on 5/6/11 and shipped out on 11/28/11. There are no words to express how proud I am of her decision to join the Navy, make a better life for herself & serve her country.
I am here to support my
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I...
Was concerned or afraid
The Navy offers opportunities that...
make sure to work out & get in good physical condition before going to BC. You'd be suprised how many people don't do this & then their body goes into shock after the first couple of weeks into BC. My daughter is proof of this. Almost 3 weeks into BC she had an axiety attach from the stress. She fought to stay in, but they sent her home anyway. The told her that she took on too many jobs. They said because she had trouble breathing during the attack, they couldn't take the chance that it could happen again. They gave her an honorable discharge called a medical separation. She's heartbroken, but says she's allowed to go back in 18 months. Such a disappointment.
Our Navy experience so far...
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Honorable medical discharge

My daughter had an anxiety attack in the middle of the night which restricted her airway.  Some of the girls in her division found her on the floor & pushed the emergency button for help.  Some RDC's came in & rushed her to the hospital.  They stabilized her in time & said they felt she had taken on too many responsibilities.  Instead of allowing her to drop some of the extra work she had taken on, they told her she would have to be sent home.  They said it was policy that anytime a medical event arises that involves the airway, the recruit must be sent home for an extended period of time.  They said she was allowed to re-enlist in 18 months, granted she doesn't have another episode.

My daughter is heart broken.  The more she fought the more push back she received.  She was transferred to another Ship that they use as a holding facility.  She basically hangs out all day waiting for her paperwork to go through so she can go home.  This seems so unfair after everything she's been through to get to where she is.  All gone in a matter of hours.  This is all she has wanted or talked about for the last 2 years.  She didn't apply to any colleges & has no back up plans.  Navy was all she knew.  Please pray for my daughter as she tries to make new plans for her future.  I hope this doesn't discourage her from trying again.  However, 18 months is such a long time.  Why so long?

Thank you guys for your support & friendship.  I will check in to see how everyone else's SR's are doing.
