OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Follow this link for OPSEC Guidelines:

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

RTC Graduation

**UPDATE 8/25/2022 - MASK MANDATE IS LIFTED.  Vaccinations still required.

**UPDATE 11/10/22 PIR - Vaccinations no longer required.

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

JenningsMom- Good Morning,

It is good to have you here. Welcome. I will post some links for you here to read over that will help you.

For those of you who have USPS Informed Delivery,  I received an email today that they are discontinuing the App as of 6/12/2021 and you have to download the USPS Informed Delivery Mobile App to your phone.  I just did it and the process is pretty simple.

First Things First-- The Quarantine Edition

How are you doing? The first couple of weeks can be hard with no communication but staying busy is key. Start writing now so when you receive the form letter you can mail your letters off right away.

I love your pictures. Welcome again.

When you join the BC Mom group, be sure to scroll down past the information, past the discussions and you will come to a comment wall which is where we do our daily chatting. If you are viewing on a mobile device is is much easier to navigate this site on a computer in my opinion.

Good Morning VA 1983 - I saw you posted in the chat room, that area is not noticed by as many of the members and can be hard for people to post to at times. I recommend that you come join the BC Mom and Loved Ones group that B'sNuke Mom mentioned below. Here is the link again Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) - Navy For Moms ( - Also be sure to read anything that is in blue below click on the links.

As for letters, you should receive a form letter anywhere from 2 - 4 weeks after your son left for BC depending on if he had to quarantine or not after arrival at RTC. They are allowed to write letters on Sunday and they mail on Monday. Your letters are delivered to them M-Sat once they have a recruit mail petty officer trained to distribute the mail.

Welcome to!

Head to “Settings” on the main page right away to add a profile image (no last names visible, please) and complete your Profile. Then - and this is important! - read these Community Guidelines and this Operations Security (OPSEC) Checklist, for the safety and privacy of all our Sailors.

Join this group for boot camp moms, where you'll also find a group for your Pass in Review (graduation) date; and this one for PIR Reference Information.

Get a head start during boot camp by joining groups for, and learning about, your Sailor's occupational specialty and "A" School; and later your Sailor's duty station and/or Navy ship and homeport. You can also join groups for your own state, region or home town and interests from getting ready for deployment to care package ideas!

Please say Hi when you join a group, and feel free to ask any and all questions - everyone was new once, and there is no "dumb" question.  This site was created by the U.S. Navy just for you, and we look forward to getting to know you and your Sailor.  Welcome to the NAVY family - we're so glad you're here!!
