FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO GET STARTED:

Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Married for 19 years. My oldest son has just signed and joined the Navy. I have three more sons, 16, 14, and 12. They love to run cross country and play lacrosse. I work in the financial field. My husband works for the State of Maryland. My family has a lot of Navy Veterans.

My dad was in the Navy and received good training from it. He was on a nucular sub, and now is an electrican. He is very greatful for the training that he received. My Grandfather was in the Navy during World War II, he was a Frog Man. I loved every minute of the Navy. My Uncle also was in the Navy not sure what his job was but he also loved being in the Navy. He was in during the Gulf War. He is now a Chaplin in the Army Nation Guard.

The Count Down Begins...

I am not sure if I am going to make it or not...   My son leaves for boot camp in two weeks (Dec.6th) I can stand the thought of not having him home over the holiday's. Also, I am scheduled to work on his ship out date, anyone have any advise on this. I am thinking I should spend the day before with him (Dec. 5th) say my good bye's then. Then give him a kiss in the morning and go off to work and try to make my day as normal as possible. I have heard several stories that the recruiters comes…

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner yesterday was my son's birthday which also happens to be his sisters 15th so it was a day of many mixed emotions for me.

The only thing I have heard from my son was his brief writing on the back of his form letter. It did make me laugh though he finished up with PS I look ridiculous with my head shaved and birth control glasses. 

How are you doing today? This is a very difficult and emotionally draining process.

Have you heard from your son at all?

Hopefully we will be able to help each other through.

Feel better and keep the faith it will all be okay.
