Just got the call. A long long journey boot camp was. Made the Sailor call even more appreciated. One month longer than planned. Wisdom teeth problems, Shin splints, His progress card not turned in. Had to do some over again and the big chicken pox scare. Wow. I cant wait to see him.

Hi! My son is going to be an EM. He just got to Charleston on Saturday. I guess he'll start A school today with your son! It's great connecting here with a sailor in the same field AND close by!
Many end up in holding at A School for a few weeks or longer, so the delay could mean that he will class up faster than if he had left on time or it could result in a wait. You'll just have to wait and see. He has a contract and it will be honored once he passes. Take care and blessings to you and your soon-to-be-Sailor.
B - The sub schools at Goose Creek & Groton represent the different types of subs the Navy uses; different subs, different systems. Hope this helps!
I don't know what other message you are referring to. The message about BS-21 is the only one I received from you other than the Friend request.
BS-21 is Battle Stations-21. This is their final test. After this, they graduate and are Sailors! Battle Stations-21 is a 12 hour evaluation program with 17 ship board scenarios from missile attacks that can cause fires to flooding caused by exploding undersea mines. Recruits also stand watches on the bridge and are tasked with engineering scenarios, lookout scenarios, and mass casualty drills. Battle Stations is conducted several times a week, at night, on board USS Trayer (BST 21), a 210-foot-long Arleigh Burke-class destroyer simulator. One to four divisions participate in Battle Stations-21 at one time. They head over there in the evening, and have their capping ceremony the next morning. At that time, they trade their Recruit caps for their NAVY caps--a very emotional time for these new sailors who have worked so hard! Later that same afternoon, you should receive that much-anticipated "I'm a Sailor" phone call. That call can come beginning 2ish to as late as 8ish Central Time and could come on any weekday (F, M-Th) beginning on the day of the previous week's PIR to as late as the day before the Sailor's PIR.

Craig has posted a powerpoint that helps to explain Battle Stations-21. See the Attachments in his Discussion, ~ Boot camp for Dummies (with Pictures) ~.

Thanks for the Friend request. I hope we can be around for some time to support and help each other. If there is ever anything I can help you with, just ask. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
