Hi Bonnie,

Thank you for your response - It seems we are all feeling the same feelings for our sons newly in Bootcamp!  I think of him constantly, hoping that he is acclimating ok and he is dealing well with the culture shock of the military.  So you got a call twice? WOW - I have not received the box yet, but I am writing from work before I head out for home.  It may be there waiting.  Talk to you soon!  Thanks for writing!

Also , meant to tell you.  Have your phone with you and on from 8am to 8pm.  If any calls are coming, that is the window for them.  I would hate for you to miss any calls from him

PIR (graduation) you can basically count 9 fridays from day he left.  If I understand correctly, your Son shipped 1-8, so that would mean PIR is on/around 3/8.  But yes, the form letter we should get this week will have the PIR date along with the security code you will need to print for your parking pass.  No worries, I will answer any question you have.  I have learned a ton, I was once in your shoes feeling lost....so feel free to ask away

as gar as phone calls....the initial "i'm here" and the final "i'm a sailor" are the only ones you can pretty much count on.  But even those do not always get to be made.  There could be 1 or 2 other calls he can make if the RDC decides the division has earned it.  Again, don't count on it.  I know for a fact they all rely on letters and lots and lots of them.  I have written everyday and they are all sitting here numbered ready to go once I get an address.  My son's job is Electronics based.  he will end up either ET (electronic technician) for FC (fire controller-pushing the buttons for the missiles your son will be loading).  I think all jobs have a sense of danger, but just feel good in knowing they are trained so well and have an entire team behind them.  I did send my son with a couple of phone cards just in case they are granted phone calls  We will get through this..:)
