OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Someone will probably start a group called something like Leaving for boot camp Aug. 17th. Go to the groups page. Then just start browsing the groups. However, the group you may most want to join will be the one that will be the PIR date (graduation date.) I have been in touch with some from our sailor's PIR group for over 2 years. that will be the group you will want to try to attend the Great Lakes meeet and greet families from. As soon as your recruiter has the PIR date (a couple of weeks after he/she leaves) you will need to find that group. If you can't find it, let me know. I'll help you look!
