OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

How's your SR doing?  He done being sick yet?  Remember these last few weeks are going to be harder on them than ever before, to get them ready for Battlestations etc..Their over all real life sort of final test.   Any news is good news though right?

Cindysue sorry to hear you missed another call, that stinks I know...I only got one call I was actually able to speak with him the whole time he was there...He made calls to me but something was wrong with his payphone he was calling from..I could hear him but he couldn't hear me, i could hear the frustration in his voice and I felt so bad for him.  Keep your chin up, people will start getting letters soon I would imagine..And often the first ones say, why havent you written, this is common, just keep writing it will all catch up with him.

Electrician's Mate (EM) has "A" School in Great Lakes, which is a plus for you for PIR weekend since he will be able to have daytime Liberty with you each day of the weekend--see PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend for more on that.

There are no groups for just those with loved ones who will be EM's. Check out Great Lakes A School Q&A, GL A-school moms, Engineers, Snipe Moms(enginers), and Snipe Moms and join the ones that meet your needs. You will also want to check out the Training Support Center (TSC) Great Lakes Facebook Page. The Rating Information Card for EM can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/em.pdf.

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in June, to connect with others with loved ones who left the same day and may have PIR together. What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Welcome to NavyforMoms.com.  My name is Ronny and my son has been in the Navy since February of 2012.  He is currently stationed in San Diego with a Helicopter Squadron.  He is an Aviation Structural Mechanic.  I hope you find all the info you are looking for here, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.  My son is 3rd Generation Navy, so I do know a little about the Navy..:)
If you have a new Sailor who is in Boot Camp, or leaving soon, visit CallsforRecruits.org and I will send you FREE Pre-Paid Phone cards for your SR to use while they are in boot camp.  I started that program when my son left for Boot Camp :)
Welcome Aboard and I wish your Sailor Fair Winds and Following Seas.
