Newport OCS Class 05-13

Posted on October 30, 2012 at 10:43pm 0 Comments

Is anyone else out there have a child in this class? My daughter has been at OCS for a week and a half and I have received two phone calls and one email from her. I am just starting to send her mail - and using the address provided on the website. Wanted to make sure you all knew there was a Facebook page titled "Officer Training Command Newport" and many, many pix. I have already seen several of my daughter. Missing her so much but trying to be strong and looking forward to her graduation…

The Only Girl!

Posted on October 23, 2012 at 9:19pm 4 Comments

Our daughter just checked into OCS at Newport this past Sunday as a nupoc and we did not hear from her until this evening - apparently she meets her Drill Instructor in the morning - but we had a very bad connection and we couldn't hear much except that she is the ONLY girl in her class!! Because of this, she has a room to herself but she sounded disappointed - I think that it surprised her that there were no other girls and of course, I am a little worried that she doesn't have anyone to…

Good morning NupocMom,
I just read your post about OCS on the Nuke mom page. You may want to ask that same question in the Officer group that you are on. Not many of the Nuke moms would have that answer. You may also want to check for an OCS group on this website...they may have the information you are looking for.

Tell her to run, run and then run some more. Start getting in shape. If she has never iron before, start practicing. Same goes for folding undies into 4" squares. Also shining shoes. Threads were always coming of the seams of my son's pants. Apparently there is a glue like thing that she can buy at the Nx preventing the seams from fraying.  Hey, drop in on the group and drop a line (on the San  Fran page)

It's official!! Our daughter was just welcomed as an officer candidate into the Nupoc Program on Tuesday, August 7! She begins OCS in a few months. We are so proud that she is serving her country in this capacity. Thank you for all the welcome comments - I joined before she had her final, official interview so was waiting to hear before I posted again. Look forward to meeting many of you in the months and years to come.

Congrats on your daughter getting into the Nupoc program. There is another member in your area with a daugther in the NUKE program. I can't remember where she lives - it's a small town in the Santa Rosa area.

Please join the San Fran group and post a comment. She'll probably be able to give more inside as to what it is like for women in the nuke field.

Please click friends on upper right to accept my friend request.

Welcome to NavyForMoms.com!!

I hope you get all the information here you are looking for.  Please stop by the Survival Guide for New Moms for some of the info to start with.
If you have a new Recruit and need phone cards for them please check out Calls for Recruits.org and get them for FREE.  I feel that the Family, Loved Ones, nor the Men and Women of our Armed Forces should have to pay for phone calls from Boot Camp.  The link above will take you to the website to send the email for the FREE phone cards if you need them.  Please spread the word if you know of anyone who can use this great service!!!
