OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

No, do not write the contents on the outside of that envelope. It could end up opened before it gets to him and the watch could just disappear. Unfortunately not every postal worker and service member is honest and the mention of a watch could be tempting. Bibles and contacts are not tempting items to steal, but a watch might be.

If he asked for one, he can have one. He may have one of the RPO positions that requires him to know the time. Don't send a very expensive one though. He can get one at the NEX though. Send it in a bubble envelope or small box. He knows that he will have to open the envelope in front of the RDC and he would not ask if he were not permitted to have it.

Yes, he can take his cell phone and laptop to "A" School. Check the info below and join HM (Hospital Corpsman) A School in San Antonio. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Since your SR has a contract for Hospital Corpsman (HM), sometime between now and the end of BC, join HM (Hospital Corpsman) A School in San Antonio and check out Basic Medical Technician Corpsman Program Facebook Page. The Rating Information Card for HM can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/hm.pdf; it indicates 19 weeks, but "A" School is 14 weeks after classing up. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.
