I Am a Navy Girlfriend.....

I am a navy girlfriend.I hold no formal recognition with the powers that be.I am at the bottom of the chain. I hold no Military ID card; I am not a "dependent" or parent. The man i love may face unspeakable dangers, and I am at the mercy of those who possess this recognition for news.I understand this and accept this.

I am a navy girlfriend.I have promised to be here for him upon his return, no matter how long he is away. People may say I am insane for making such a commitment with no quarentees, but i hold onto our promises and have faith that he will come home safe to me. I know full well that my love for him fuels him in the worst of times.

I am a navy girlfriend. There is no ring on my finger to symbolize our commitment, though I love him no less forit. I hope every day that he will be able to call because a simple 30-second phone call can bring the greatest spectrum of emotions...smiling with tears in my eyes from so much joy and pain. My relationship is based on brief communication where "I love you and I'm okay" speaks more than volumes and gives me the strength to keep going.

I am a navy girlfriend. I take no moment spent together for granted.I hold onto every touch, caress, kiss, and every word.I have memroized the feel of his skin, his smell, the sound of his voice, and I play it over and over in my head so that I will not forget. I cry myself to sleep some nights because missing him hurts so badle, but wake up the next morning, brush myself off, and start a new day.

I am a navy girlfriend. The events of the next serveral months hold my life, my love, and my future in the balance. When you watch the news reports, you may turn away and go about your business relatively unaffected. When I watch the news, stories of the war, I do not see nameless soldiers a half a world away.I see individuals who will be forever changed by the wat.News of every casualty causes me physical pain and deep sadness

I am a navy girlfriend, not a spouse or family member. When you say your prayers for the wives, mothers, and fathers, please dont forget about me too.

Iowa...I just read your "Navy girlfriend" note...tears streaming :-) While the gf's hold no status with the powers that be...in my heart, you are the lifeline home for our boys! You hold a piece of their heart that their mothers have spent a lifetime cultivating and preparing just for you! While at times we may seem a little jealous..overbearing..possesive..lol..it is only because we know that it's really you that they will be seaching for when they get that ticket home. AND..my friends, that is, after all, how it is suppose to be. We will always be their mommas but those young ladies out there waiting for our sons are the futures we have raised them for. So thank you girls!

I just want you to know I am thinking of you and praying for you and your recruit. Your news breaks my heart because I know how important this was to you and to your family. Don't give up! Even if he comes home, maybe it can be fixed and he can get that waiver. I hope he has a serious chat with his recruiter about why he wasn't told about the need for a waiver. Please stay in contact with me. Send me your phone number via message and I will call and check on yu!!

Hey. You have no idea who excited I was. I seen the 847# and I was like no way. I thought it was a bill collector. Then I hear Babe- Babe are you there. And I just froze. I couldnt breathe and then the tears came flowing. And he says Babe I need you to pull it together I only have 4 minutes. So I said okay. He said they were doing good. His RDC was great. They got beat for a another kid doing something wrong. But he did sound very happy. I wonder why you didnt get a phone call. That is very weird. I did have a great weekend, how was yours? I have had some mood swings over the last day or two and I dont know why. Although now I think I will be okay since I talked to him. But I hope you get a call soon.

This is their second Sunday so they should be writing letters. So I am very excited fo rmy letter next week. I am okay. Taking every day as it comes. We have no children- just a dog. But I do miss him very much espically when I want his opinion on something. But its okay I try to think like him to see what he would say. His Mom and I are very close so we are holind eachother up through this. I did book my hotel. Some of the places were already full. We are staying at the Navy Lodge. The MA is the guy who is controlling the safety and main focus of the group. He is making sure everyone is on task and staying focus. So he better be getting everyone in line so he can call next week, If their division is doing good they can call ont the third Sunday hopefully. So we will see. Graduation will be here very soon and I am couting down those days.
