Good Afternoon ~So far I have only received the "form letter" from my son. He left for quarantine on 6/10 and listed his graduation date as 8/7 (although I see others showing a grad date of 8/6?).…Continue
lauraadc - I will say, once you get that form letter things start to gel into place and sending mail and then your first letter from them! It seems long at the moment, but for me the time went by fast - but summers always go by faster than I want them to and we had a lot going on.
Here is the link for the Aug 2020 PIR https://navyformoms.ning.com/group/piraugust2020
It says June 2020 graduates but that was just an accidently copy/ paste error.
Hi Lauraadc - It is my understanding that somehow they are still managing to "squish" the actual BC time so that it is still within about 8 weeks, for some it was 9 weeks depending on the TGs filling up. The silent time seems to be longer, which is a bummer and why we are encouraging as many of our new moms to come over and introduce themselves and post in the main BC Mom page. The more you just say Hi, and how your day is, the more familiar everyone becomes with the names of who the new moms are. We also have the PIR groups set up now for August so you may join that group as well. It is a private group and Ellen0502, one of the Admins on this site will need to approve you, so it may take a day or so, but you may ask more specific questions there that we might not be able to answer on the more public forum that the BC Mom group is.
Staying busy is helpful and that much harder if you are not working, so I would suggest finding a hobby, work on a scrapbook for your son, do some household projects, things that you would want straightened up for him when he comes home, even if that might be a ways down the road. Prayer helped me and although I did not have the BC videos like we have posted here, my husband found a timeline on another website that gave me a slight sense of what my son was going through that helped as well.
Welcome lauraadc,
It is good to have you on here. Come to the main page and let us know about your SR's journey so far. There is a lot of great information on the boot camp page, there is a lot of awesome women that help out as well. We all encourage each other and no question is ever dumb. This is a new era for us moms that their sons/daughters have already gone thru boot camp.; So we are learning as well. :)
Hi lauraadc,
I am one of the "veteran" moms that sticks around and helps out on the BC Moms group. Welcome!! We are glad you joined us. I see your SR is already at BC. Be sure to come by the group page and introduce yourself down in the comments. Feel free to ask any questions you may have or share with others that are new as well, what your experience has been like so far.
My sailor has just passed his halfway mark for his rate and is out in the fleet now as a Nuke.

Please say Hi when you join a group, and feel free to ask any and all questions - everyone was new once, and there is no "dumb" question.
